We are considering ordering a 34PA. Standard wire for the solar prewire is 8 gauge but for an up charge will replace with 4 gauge. 6 would be good but Tiffin doesn’t offer that size. We have 400w on our Airstream trailer plus a 200w portable panel we can plug into the trailer. We like solar for dry camping. We’ll probably wait a year after purchase. Instead of spending the money at first on solar we may replace the batteries with lithium. They charge faster and hold their voltage better than flooded and AGMS even discharged down 80%.

I am installing 2) 305 watt panels and 4 Lithium 100ah batteries with lifetime warranty on an 18 Open Road 34PA today for a customer. In a google search to figure out where the prewire is installed I saw this thread and decided to chime in.
I can tell you on my previous Allegro bus without needing AC, I "never" fired my generator, while dry camping 4-5 days at a time.
These big panels and Lithiums should be an incredible upgrade to what I had that worked great.
Back to the installation! I would love to update you on how this works!

The #8 preinstalled wire is sufficient and under a round dome on the roof “buried” in dicor and foam after removing the lid only. The base is sealed down nicely and you really want to lift it up but I would leave it alone. Tomorrow I will call tiffin and find where the controller meets the wire.
To answer your first question, We used LION Energy Lithium’s because they have a lifetime warranty- they can keep them if they ever sell the Rv.

HI! I have a 2012 Tiffin Breeze and we boon-dock all the time (we actually prefer state parks, National parks and National Monuments where there are usually no hookups. 1000 watts of solar power ran me about $1472 to install myself and It paid off the first season in full service camp site savings so actually it is quite cost effective. We rarely run the generator except for Air Conditioning.

The factory solar prewire from Tiffin on a 2018 Allegro Open road 34PA is located above driver side windshield compartment with false wall screwed in. It has a nice flat panel to locate the controller and as previously stated, the wires terminate on the roof under a white plastic dome full of foam. Hope this helps someone!
