Air Bags on front

This is one of those silly questions but, when we purchased this 1996 Tiffin Allegro Bus it was all over the road on the way home I thought it had some worn out parts on the steering and could use a front end alignment, but then I found it had Air bags on the front axle and both was either out or had real low pressure in them, so I aired them up to 25psi, haven't driven it in the past week, looking for an opinion, will having the air bags with air help the ride of our coach as far as staying on the road etc.

I had to replace the ones on my older MH. It made a world of difference, especially when driving in crosswinds. I ran about 60 or more in them then.

Thank You, I was hoping they both held air [it was sitting for a couple years], when I drove it home from the dealer it was kind of all over the road, we figured we be doing 60mph maybe 55mph, no hurry I just wanted to make the coach more easy handle, I did check out the front steering ball joints ect. they were tight so it seemed, thought maybe a front end alignment, I maybe able to hold off on the alignment, I Hope.

Assuming it is a P32 chassis like my 2002 Safari Trek, then those front air bags need between 50 -80 psi in them (depend on the GVWR and weight of the coach)

that's good to know I wasn't sure on how much air I should put in each air bag, looked at others in the forum and the pressure went from 20psi to 80psi according to weight, our first trip may be heavier then normal as we are hauling some furniture to Calif. maybe 400 lbs, I thought to be safe and start with 25psi to test the bag and increase the pressure if needed, but you say start at 50psi and go up, so will, when I have these air bags at the right pressure, they should help with the coach from wondering right, fingers crossed.

I'm sorry you said you have a P32, we have a Bus 31 32', the air bags are inside the front springs on our bus with separate air lines running up right under the hood, would that be what you have as well ?

Yes, much the same though my remote lines are ran to the inside of the front wheel arches. I have added a pair of screw on quick glance pressure indicators to them that show green at 70 psi, though I generally run 75 - 80 psi in the air bags. Sort of like these https://smile.amazon.com/Quick-Press.../dp/B00XCOQ3ZC

Isaac-1 ever since we purchased this RV the bags have been both deflated and it drove, well it wasn't real fun the RV was still between the lines but it was a struggle, I was hoping adding air to the air bags would improve the ride, I checked the front end tie rod joints etc. and they seemed tight the only thing we could figure was it needed a front end alignment I'm hoping adding air to the air bags will help. you have any input please.

Thank You 96Bounder1st when we purchased this 96 Tiffin it had zero air pressure on the right side but it had 20psi on the left, I figured after sitting for two years to be expected, I did fill the bags up to 25psi and both held air w/the coach up on it's jacks, tomorrow we getting ready to shove off I added 50psi today still with the jacks down during the period it sat there were no loads in fact I think it really never moved, gosh I hope having air in them improves the ride.

Well the right bag will not hold 60psi it has a slow leak, I used soapy water to find a leak could not detect any bubbles around fittings and what I could see around the air bag it appears the entire spring has to be removed to replace it, will "fix a flat" work to seal any small leaks.

The instructions that came with my replacement bags show to use the tie-wraps like in the video. I found that when you got to the last part of the bag it wasn't going to go. A screw type hose clamp was my solution. You place it down a little from the hole on the a-frame, squeeze the bag enough to slide it in a little then reposition the clamp and go again. It took 3 or 4 times if I remember correctly. If I had to do it again I would very slightly enlarge the hole with my dremmel tool and smooth it off so the bag would have a smoother surface to slide through.
