Air brake connection for toad
I'm looking to buy an Allegro Bus that is built on the Peak chassis. I currently have a National RV Tradewinds with an air supply for my toad, which uses the RoadMaster BrakeMaster proportional braking system.
My question is whether Tiffin/Peak requires a ping tank, or can I simply access the braking air supply at one of the unused connecting points? Also, would this connecting point be near the rear or the front of the coach?
Thanks in advance for your guidance, and I hope to become a member of this forum in the next 30 days.
Dale

Legally it should have a separate tank and isolation valve. However I've run the Brakemaster 9160 for 15 years directly off the brake lines with no problem.

I'm not familiar with a Peak chassis on a Tiffin Bus, but I have a Phaeton on their Power Glide chassis and tied directly into the brake line. The air lines going to the brake cylinders is 1/2" and the tap line to the rear for the towed brakes is only 1/4". Even with a catastrophic failure it would not lose all air to that cylinder.

Thanks to both for the quick replies. That's what makes this forum so helpful.
Yes, Dan, it is the PowerGlide Chassis. I must have been confusing it with the Peak Chassis that was made by Western RV for the Alpines and Apexs.
I'm not aware of any manufacturer other than Spartan that voids their warranty for not using a ping tank, but then, there are lots of manufacturers out there. I understand that Tiffin is very customer service oriented. Might it be advisable for me to contact them directly directly with my question? If so, what department should I call?

Air brake connection for toad
Tiffin has a central number to call: 256-356-8661. Ask for chassis I suspect. Or at least tell her what you want to know and she'll route you. Good folks.

You can give Tiffin a call but I would doubt if they would give their blessings to tap into a brake line..

I contacted Tiffin's Chassis Dept. and was told that I can attach an air line to the Air Brake Relay Valve to run an air line for my toad. This is the same procedure prescribed by RoadMaster.
I appreciate all the input I've received, especially Tiffin's phone number. Going to them gave me the confidence that no ping tank is necessary.

Just for info, here is where I tied my brake line on our Power Glide chassis. I didn't want to cut into any lines, so I added a T and a short pipe nipple to the line going to a brake cylinder. It was an easy tie in and works great.

So now we are recommending illegal modifications to complex systems. My toad brake system is tied into the air brake lines on the coach. I called Tiffin support while under the coach to confirm I was cutting into the correct lines. They were very knowledgeable and supportive.
