Allegro 36LA Question

I planned on trading my 03 Thor Infinity 33' Ford gasser for a 36' Diesel. My reasons were more storage for 3-4 month winter touring and better mileage flat towing my 07 Saturn Vue. I came across a 13 Allegro 36LA that seems to have everything we are looking for. My question deals with fuel mileage. I currently get 7 mpg and 6 mpg towing with my 03 v10. I would think a diesel would be around 10 mpg towing or not. Should I expect the same performance out of this 13 Tiffen even though it is larger and heavier? Is the newer v10 better than my 03? I currently also have a 5 star tune on the 03. I never thought of staying with gas but this Allegro has the storage I want and overall cost to own would be less. Thanks for any thoughts from 36LA owners.

You should see 7-9 mpg with the 36LA. Love the layout and storage of our 2013. Looked at all comparable layouts from the various manufacturers and this won hands down. You can buy a lot of fuel for the cost difference of diesel pusher along with simpler maintenance.

PS from what I have seen on most forums DP don't do much better if any at all.
Sure they have more power but at a cost.

With our 2012 35F Vista, V-10 we would get anywhere from 6.5 to 8.5.... I would consider 7.5 good mileage...

Been some posts from members , factory ordering the Tiffins on a heavier chassis 24,000 vs the run of the mill 22,000 for improved Cargo Carrying Capacity. Don't know if this floor plan was the one involved.
If your loading for 3>4 months , I'd want to look at CCC of the rig as well.

The 36LA is not a diesel, it's a V-10 on a Ford chassis.

Just picked up our 36LA 2 weeks ago. Love it!! Great handling, smooth ride, a lot of features included which are options on other Coaches.

I believe the 2013 model year was where the 24,000lb chassis was introduced. Some 36LA models have the 22,000 lb chassis and some the 24,000 lb., depending on which model specified/ordered. We took delivery of our 2014 36LA with the 24,000lb chassis in December. On our first few short trips we are averaging 8.0 mpg. Haven't taken a long trip yet.

Just an FYI, the 36LA has always been on a 24,000 lb chassis since its introduction in 2012.
