Allegro (Atwood) Jack Wiring Problem

Have 2006 Tiffin Allegro Open Road - 8.1 Workhorse on W22 Chassis.. Have intermittent problem with automatic jacks. The light on the Atwood Dash Panel that indicates that the vehicle is in "Park" works intermittently. When it is out the Atwood control panel thinks the vehicle is not in Park and won't allow the jacks to work. Dealer was no help because it happened to work while in the shop (no surprise!!!). I called Tiffin and they sent me a picture of the Atwood wiring junction box under the dash (apparently comes to Tiffin by the chassis builder). I determined that the green wire coming from that box to the Atwood dash panel was tight and functioning properly. I cannot get anyone to tell me what wire color and where the wire goes from that junction box under the dash to the signal source. Does it go all the way to the transmission or to the steering column or what? I want to trace it out to see if something is loose somewhere so that I can replicate and correct the problem. Tiffin gave me a Workhorse number to call and they referred me back to the same dealer that couldn't (or wouldn't) find the problem.

Hi Mike,

On the Tiffin RV Network a lot of the owners say to call Sue at Atwood if you have problems with their jacks. I don't have her number but hopefully you can get it from their website.

Good Luck,

Allegro Jack Wiring Problem

Thanks very much for your reply - I have already gone down that road.
I talked to Atwood some time ago and they told me it wasn't the jack problem and that it was a problem with the "Park" signal wire somewhere. In fact when I had it into the dealer they said one of the jacks had to be replaced. It was fine when I took it in. I had then and continue to have a wiring problem. Something is loose somewhere.

Mike,

I googled your W22 chassis and found the attached electrical diagram. Although it's dated 2004, it still might help.

Hope it helps

Allegro Jack wiring problem

Gaff;
Thanks you for the wiring schematic. I wish I knew what the heck I am doing!! I have narrowed it down to page 12 of what you sent me. It is the C255 I/P Convenience Center - Cavity C9. It is from that location that the green wire goes to the Atwood panel. I am trying to figure out what is coming into that "cavity" (hard to figure out which wire it is when you are just looking at it under the dash) and from where. I'll get it figured out. I really appreciate the help.

You are welcome. Lets hope it's the same chassis wiring you have. I was looking at page 5 (park/neu sw.) the yellow wire which goes thru the starter relay and then to the powertrain control module. Have not gotten any further than that, busy day.

Mike,

Looking further down the document I found another park/neu. switch but this one is marked transmission. It's a green wire going to the convenience center/park accessory that you had mentioned. Look at sheet 110, page 3 of 3

Allegro Jack wiring problem

I saw the same thing. I was looking around at some other posted forums and saw some helpful comments written by Ultra RV. I emailed them and got a response right back telling me that the next time this happens to set the display to PRNDL and see if the P is highlighted.
Got good direction from you and I am going to wiggle some wires and see what happens.
Thanks very much.
