The Allegro Bay is the predecessor to the Allegro Open Road. Some of the Bays are FRED (FRont Engine Diesel) but most are front engine Gas. The current Allegro Open Roads are all gas coaches on Ford chassis. The Allegro RED (Rear Engine Diesel) is pretty much the same level coach as the Open Road except it's a diesel pusher.

The Allegro Bay was available in both gas and diesel (front engine only) and was a significant trim upgrade over the existing Allegro Open Roads. Think of them as the Phaetons of the front engine chassis. They did not precede the Open Roads but were developed to fill a need for a more luxurious coach without going to a DP.

REDs are DP versions of the Open Road. In terms of upgrades, the Allegro Bay was considered an upgrade over the Open Road and the RED models.
