The Sunlit Sand is a hard color to show on a computer. It varies greatly depending on the light. Here's a better representation of the color. It's a bit closer to what it really looks like:

Mark, the color looks much nicer there. There are some colors that vary alot depending on lighting. Guess this is one of those. I'm not sure I like that sign on top of it though. Kinda detracts from the whole color scheme!!

MIKE: it's called subliminal advertising! and I think we can forgive Mark for his "indescretion" LOL , if for no other reason than all the great info he provides to many areas of this forum. ED

Don't worry. The first time you drive under an overpass that sign will be gone.

We went through the factory this past summer but did not go to the paint shop. Are you sure it is a million sq. ft.??? That is awfully big. About 24 acres. Red is an amzing character.

Just got off the phone with Brian at the dealer this afternoon. He just returned from 4 days at Red Bay checking out the new features and items on the rigs.

He spent some time at Triple H Electronics who furnish all the electronic items for the new rigs and mentioned that the new High Definition antenna available on the rigs is a big hit.

Since the antenna is a low profile remotely operated antenna, there's no more cranking up of an antenna...or forgetting to put it back down when breaking camp

I imagine this item will be a big aftermarket item as well.

The new over the air antenna...

Joe,

Will a regular Wingard antenna pick up HD programming? Or will I need to change the antenna to use my Christmas present in the TT?

George

P.S.: I peaked under the Christmas tree.

The crank up Winegard should still pick up HD signals since they are on the frequency range as covered by the antenna. I think the main attraction of the new version is it doesn't need cranked up.

If your new TV (did you peek at your present) has a digital HD receiver and you are within range of the signal, you'll see it. One thing about the new digital signals is you won't see a snowy picture. It's either there, or it isn't.

Joe, or Mark maybe...

When you stay with the Queen bed does the size of the night stands increase and/or do you gain a small hanging locker like some manufacturers put there?
I'm thinking the queen bed would give you more room to move around, but I'm also curious as to what they do with that extra little bit of width.

Others have reported that, while the batwing does pick up over the air HDTV signals, the new HDTV antenna has a better range and picks up more stations. One RVer reported that at 30 miles he got one station with the batwing but at 50 miles with the new HDTV antenna he got 4-5 stations. That, coupled with the lack of having to be sure it was lowered during transport, is making it a real must-have option for most buyers.

The only issue with an aftermarket replacement of the batwing with the new antenna is that it needs 12 volts to power it so you'd have to run some extra wires to it.

We ordered our 42QRP with the queen bed but I've seen them both way. You do get larger nightstands with the queen, a lot more floor space, and the drawers underneath the nightstands are very useful. When you go to the king bed you get narrower nightstands, really skinny drawers, and less floor space around the bed.

The 42QDP floorplan used to have a shirt closet alongside a queen bed. If you ordered the king bed you got two small nightstands. I believe they went away from this in the mid-2007 model year because most 42QDP owners with the queen bed didn't like the closed in feeling with a closest smack in your face when laying on that side of the bed. So, they eliminated the shirt closet and went to a window on each end of the bed, just like the more popular 42QRP floorplan.

The 43QRP will not get a shirt closet, instead it gets the nightstands. It also won't get the extra window because the bathroom lavatory is built into the slide. That's a small price to pay for that extra floor space by the lavatory though.

The 42QDP was the initial 42' floorplan in the Allegro Bus, introduced in 2005. Once the 42QRP came out late 2006 it's been eclipsing the 42QDP sales. At last count the 42QDP accounted for 4.45% of the Allegro Bus sales while the 42QRP accounted for 33.02%. The new 43QRP floorplan is expected to really take off. The 42QRP is really 42.5' and you only gain another 5" in the 43QRP but the improvements in the floorplan layout are making it the most desired floorplan right now amongst potential Allegro Bus buyers.

By the way, if you order the Select Comfort air matress, the air pump and reservoir is underneath the bed. There's still some storage there, but not much. When you order the standard pillow top mattress you get a large area for under-bed storage.

I'm pretty sure if you choose the queen bed, the size of the nightstands beside the bed increase in size. The closet does not change.

Honestly, we're used to a queen bed, but the bus comes standard with a conventional RV King bed (smaller then a regular king) or the optional beds (for an upcharge) are either a queen or king size select comfort air beds.

We didn't want either of the select comfort air beds, so we stuck with the standard RV king mattress. I wanted to make sure there was enough walking around room in the bedroom with the RV king and it seemed good to me.

The king bed is standard but I'm pretty sure that you can get a standard queen at no extra charge. It's not shown on the price list but those things are notorious for "missing items". The floor plan graphic does show a queen bed.
