Allegro Bus Step Problem

Recently we had our step malfunction, the shoulder bolt broke off. Tiffin sent me s new step, different brand. Once installed the step will not stay out when turned off, it cycles every time the door opens and closes.
Any others have this problem?

I believe there were two different setups for the steps. One is controlled by the magnet on the bottom left of the door entry like mine. The other has the connection in the hinge area of the door and I am not familiar enough with that setup to help. It may be that the new steps have the opposite setup of what you currently have.

Or, it may be that the connection itself has become misaligned. Make sure that when the new steps were installed that this magnet setup was properly hooked up at the step connection.

I wish I knew more so I could be of help to you.

No info on which year model you have so I am shooting in the dark here. I had a similar problem with my 2014 45 LP. Tiffin provided a replacement Kwikee step for the Coach Step that came in our MH. Assuming yours is similar to mine, TMH should have also provided you a replacement door jamb push button. You probably have that or the step would really be confused.

While the two brands are similar, the controls are not identical. Try reversing the on/off switch at the door panel to see if that makes the step work like you want. It did for mine. If that had been the only issue, I would have been good, but I think you will also find that the step well lights now work backwards (i.e. on when door is closed, off when open). Tiffin mulled on how to fix both those problems and ended up sending me a Coach Step controller to replace the Kwikee controller. Had to also go back to the original door jamb switch. All now works as intended.
