Allegro Bus with flaking clear coat

I have a 2008 Allegro Bus. At the top of the bus on the front and back edges have patches where the " shine" has flaked off. The shiny area is black and the area where it has flaked is more charcoal looking. Has the paint (gel coat) flaked off also or is this what it looks like without the clear coat?

Very common if you don't use a uv product. Think about having a bald head in the sun for a number of years an no sunscreen.

It was peeled before I bought it. Now I am considering fixing it myself. If it is just clear coat I can do it. If it involves paint / gel coat it will be trickier for a rookie.

Vjohnny, you can wet sand the entire area to be shot, clean and wipe down with denatured alcohol, mask off then shoot with acrylic lacquer. I've ordered matching base paint and acrylic lacquer on line thru companies that will match your paint codes. Looks professional!

Issue Resolved

Thank you all for the input. After a lot of discussion we decided to take the coach to a local RV paint facility with an several strong recommendations. Not the cheapest route but it will be more permanent and won't look like I did it!

Had same issue with my 05 Bus. Took it to local body shop and they repaired it. Looks brand new

They do have a 10 year delaminating warranty. I would contact them anyway it couldn't hurt.

I found a local RV body shop that did a great job.
