Anyone thinking of waiting for the 2020 7.3 gas motor

Looks like the 2020 Ford F53 chassis will have a 7.3 V8 gas motor. Might be quieter and have more power than the V10? I'll probably just keep getting my 2012 repaired and keep using my money to camp and travel. Dave

I'm not keeping up on the latest news. Do you have any links talking about this new engine?

It will be interesting to see if the new chassis, engine, transmission makes it to the 2020 model year or later. Looks like all great changes and should make a great motorhome. I've always been a bit nervous about being the "first adopter" of such a major redesign but if I was in the market I do believe I'd jump in.

I don't see why it would be any quieter.

If I was thinking of getting a new gas coach I would absolutely wait and at least see what the new offerings will be with the new engine.

I know some worry about not wanting the first year of a new product. With all of the computer aided design and verification they have I'm not sure how concerned people should be, certainly a lot less then 20-30 years ago.

Although I like what I read about the new F53 I much prefer owning a well tested V10. New engines will have new problems. Might wait a year or two for the kinks to be worked out.

I watched the Youtube interview with the chief Ford engine engineer. I was impressed with the design. And, I'd bet it can't get worse mpg than the old faithful V10.

Just the other night I bumped into a Ford engineer working on the new 10R140 transmission that will mate with the new 7.3L gas V8. He is working out so of the last manufacturing issue but assured me they will be in full production "soon".

This new powertrain will be used in the F250-F750, E350-E450 and the F53 and school bus chassis. I expect high demand in the F-series and E-series so who knows exactly when production unit should be available for Class A MH. I would hope 1Q2020 so the RV folks will be calling them 2021MY.

I would wait !

More power and better fuel economy were the driving issues. Fuel economy HAS to be better simply because the is less internal friction (fewer bearings, fewer rings, etc).

Its what I have been wanting, to haul 5000 and tow over 5000...I see a truck in my future, if Ford does it right...2021/2022, depending on the GCVW figures which they aren't talking about yet.

It should be quieter because it won't have to rev as high as the V-10 to get the same torque and horse power, especially with the new 10-speed transmission.

Gotcha. I just misinterpreted your comment. I was thinking put them side by side and at similar RPM.
