Aqua Heat (Hot)

I preoard my coach for the winter - Pumped the antifreez through the hot water lines. I read not to do it by air.

Should I be able to heat the coach even though I am winterized

Do all zones work?

I have done it for the last two years. I called the factory and you can run it with no water (antifreeze).

Yes and Yes

A simple explanation of the AquaHot System is to picture a big boiler (heat source) that heats the fluid that is circulated thru the heat exchangers in the coach and possibly in the bay area. This fluid (in newer systems) is boiler antifreeze. Camco is one brand. This is NOT the pink RV antifreeze.

In contact with this boiler fluid are heat transfer loops. Picture a big copper pipe coil. One loop is the fresh water loop where your hot water for shower etc comes from. Because it's a big loop blowing out the line propably will not get all the water out and if it freezes will break this coil requireing a several thousand dollar repair.

The second loop if connected is your "motor aid" or engine preheat. This loop connects to the engine antifreeze and will heat the AquaHot while driving or the AquaHot can be used to heat the engine for cold weather starting.

As the fresh water loop does not directly contact the heat source it is safe to operate the system with it winterized.

Hope this helps

Steve

I have 2012 alegro bus. Recently purchased. My aqua hot was on last night and neighbors in the MH next door complained of strong diesel odor. When I shut it off, a puff of smoke came out?
Does this sound right or can the aqua hot be burning too rich causing the strong diesel odor.
Any help is appreciated
Happy New Year

A little odor can be normal. I would ask Roger or search his sight about the puff of smoke on shut down.

Roger Berke provides detailed instructions and is one of the most knowledgeable individuals when it comes to the aqua hot

Some people seem to be very sensative to diesel odor so you may get an occasional complaint even it is operating perfectly.

If it has been used a lot since new, then it may need to be serviced.

Mine is 11 years old and was last serviced by Roger Berke. It does NOT blow any smoke and it does NOT have an awful diesel smell.

Sounds like it could use a good cleaning, new nozzle and adjustments to the fuel delivery system. Maybe even a new filter.

Ok. Thanks everyone. With your information. Off to the shop it goes to be checked out. It has very few hours on it. My guess needs to be adjusted.
Happy new year
