Automatic Satellite System

We recently purchased, new to us, a 2005 Phaeton 40DQH. The unit is in the shop having everything repaired, replaced & brought up to date. The unit has the satellite dome on the roof, but I don't know what brand. However, inside there is no receiver, so what is it I need, in order to have the system function?

Thanks for any info

Look on the satellite dome cover to see what name brand that you have on top of the rv. Once you have that info, you can call Directv or Dish Network and they can tell you if your dish is compatible with their system. Then whichever system is compatible with your dish you can order their receivers or buy the receivers from online, i.e. amazon, ebay, etc. and connect with the provider. They can walk you through the entire process.

Hi Ho: It's only partially a question of compatibility. There are two dome manufacturers: King Dome and KVH. After having dealt with both of these for a number of years (over 12) we decided that Weingard Trav'ler is the only way to go. I know the temptation is great to use what you have and that is at least partially possible. My only question is why Tiffin even uses these domes. Anyway nothing compares to the Trav'ler for ease of use and reliability in my opinion.

Which receiver to use depends of course on whether you have Dish or Direct, but you will never be able to see all three satellites at the same time as you can with the Trav'ler.

Just my opinion.
