AutoMotionShade Motor replacement instructions

Has anyone found a How To video or written instructions on replacing a auto motion shade motor? If so, please send a link. I looked at the You tube videos and none actually show the details for replacing the motor.

If its the manual one for the side windows, we never found a video, but when Tiffin sent our replacement, it was just a matter of pushing the clip. It wasn't hard, once we figured it out. We just used a flathead screwdriver and wedged it inbetween the clips and the roller frame and it pops right out. A flashlight helps to see what exactly it is, that you're looking at. We then popped the new rolller in the front side of the frame, and then popped the inside edge back into the clips. Hope that helps.

Auto Motion Shade Motor Replacement

I decided to replace the automotion shade motor through trial and error since I did not receive very many responses to my request for help on how to replace the shade motor.

I have a 2014 Tiffin Allegro Open Road LA36 with a failing front window night shade motor. The shade moves about 1/2 inch in either up or down operation. Tiffin sent me a replacement motor at no cost.
The secret to removing the motor from the shade tube is to peel back the shade material in order to locate a small screw that holds the motor in the shade tube. You may need to make a tool for the square head screw. I filed a #1 square head bit to a #0 size to make it fit the square headed screw. After removing the screw the motor will slide out of the tubing very easily. Make sure you note the position of the motor in the shade tube and reinstall the new motor in the same position.

The motor you took out is probably still good. The electronics inside the tube that are part of the limit switches goes bad. That can be bypassed and the motor will still work you just have to stop the shade it will not stop automatically. There is a small roll pin that has to be removed to get to the electronics.

Thanks for the feedback. I bench tested the motor after removing the mechanical limit adjustment knobs and gears and it still did not move. Never thought there were any electronics inside the motor housing. I've always thought the limit settings may be the problem. Will remove the electronics and see if the motor will run. Thanks for the feedback. Always nice to have a spare shade motor.
