Awning not dumping

Have a 05 Phaeton with the usual Dometic electric awning. Had a pretty hard rain yesterday, and the rear arm appeared to be in the dump position, yet water pooled on about the rear third of the awning. Had to dump it with a broom from underneath. Everything "looks" like normal, but seems like something must have been sticking or binding. I presume that a certain amount of weight collapses the rear pneumatic strut and allows the awning to dump. Anything I should be checking, lubricating, etc?

I have a California Carefree Awning and it has pins on both arms to adjust pitch in the awning so when it rains the water will run off. Max difference in pin setting is 2 pin holes. See if you have the same setup, works great.

Had that setup on my last coach. This one has no adjustment that I am aware of.

I had this problem and then discovered I was opening my powered awning too far. Moved the awning in about half a roller turn and the pooling stopped.

I'll try that. I don't think mine was all the way to the stops, but I'll try rolling it in a hair and see what happens.

Not unrolling the awning all the way is the only thing that reliably works for me. When you unroll the awning all the way, the roller tube creates a dam at the outer edge. If your coach is fairly level and the arm doesn't dump (mine never does), the awning will pool water. Unrolling the awning about 1 turn short of all the way gets rid of the dam. The only drawback is the awning drips water along the entire outer edge.
