Battery charging w/ house disconnect “OFF”
I just put the coach in storage for about a week. It is connected to 120v shore power however, I switched the house battery disconnect to “OFF”. Will the house batteries continue to charge/maintain charge or are they completely disconnected from the converter/inverter in the OFF position, or does it need to be in the “ON” position? I could not find a direct answer to this in the manual.
Thanks,
Paul

Best bet is to check your battery voltage when switched off.
Mine does not charge when placed in “store” mode which disconnects the battery.

If its a converter/charger, not likely. A converter/charger converts 120 volts to 12 volts for lights and things and charges your house batteries, when on shore power.
If its an inverter/charger, it probably will. An inverter/charger makes 120 volts from 12 volts when not on shore power and charges batteries when it is.
Not sure what you have but its not called a converter/inverter.

Thanks, the Tiffin owners manual specifically calls it “converter/inverter” (pg 62) however, all the individual tech manuals are with the coach so I cant be sure of the features of that unit.

The charger/inverter is wired directly to the batteries and not through the battery disconnect switch. Turn off the inverter when storing. Leave the charger on and, if you are plugged into shore power, your inverter/charger will continue to charge the batteries.

I expect you'll find the answer fastest by doing as SPK64 suggested, rather than looking through the manuals.
The manuals will tell you what SHOULD happen, a voltage tester will tell you what IS happening - those two things are not always the same.

Thanks all! Yep, had a volt meter right there in the tool kit. Sounds like a good way to verify.

Just a follow up.....I went to the coach in storage today. As mentioned before, I left it with the 120v plugged in to the storage building supply receptacle and the house battery switch in the OFF position. On arrival I unplugged the 120v supply and energized the batteries and read the voltage on the Spyder display. The house battery resting voltage was 12.6v after one week and a half.
When I plugged in the 120v supply the house battery voltage went to 13.7. It seems like the batteries do not charge with the battery switch off. Not sure if this is definitive...I may need to check the voltage at the batteries with shore power on and disconnect OFF to confirm.
I did note that the residential refrigerator ran the entire time with the 120v plugged into shore power and the batteries disconnect at "OFF".

The fridge runs on shore power when avalbile. It doesn't need battery power.
