Best deal Buying New

We are looking at the gas Allegro Open Road, my question is, how do we know we are getting a reasonable quote from the MSRP from a dealership. In general, is there approx. percentage (%) off of the MSRP we should be getting when buying new ??? of course realizing options effect final pricing. Just trying to get a feel for an approximate price say on a unit off a lot advertized.

30% off retail is not uncommon

You should be getting a 22%-30% +/- discount off of MSRP. The amount of options doesn't affect the discount as much as the manufacturer and how much they mark up their product to begin with. Sometimes the manufacturer will give rebates to the dealerships(that you will never know about) that allows them to give you a better discount while they still make their profit.

We received approx. 28% of MSRP on a 2015 still in route to the dealer when purchased. Guess much will depend on the area (market) you purchase in.

Make sure you see the actual window sticker for the unit. Not just a number the dealer throws at you.
More often than not the options will have a higher markup than the actual unit itself. This gives you some wiggle room also.
Dealers want to move these expensive things before they have to start making floor plan payments on them. If a unit has been in inventory too long they have mounted up hefty payments already. This makes negotiating easier sometimes but can also make negotiating more difficult because they actually have more into the unit sitting there.
The best thing you can do for yourself is to get quotes from multiple dealers for like units and compare them.

Thank you

Thanks for your responses.... was just wondering because we see and here so many different calculations depending on the various manufacturers and never sure if you are getting a good / ok deal or paying to much...

Thanks again...

Keep this in mind too when you buy used. Be sure and ask for the original build sheet and then deduct 25% off of that price. This is what the original owner paid for the unit. Then go for the depreciation after that number. Owners are really stupid to think they can get away with quoting the same price for their 2 year old RV, as what they paid for it!

There are 3-4 Tiffin dealers that will deal with you honestly and will have the lowest prices. You can e-mail them a RFQ and get a honest, straight forward quote back. They are:

Sherman RV, Sherman, MS
Davis Motorhome Mart, Memphis, TN
Martin Ingram, Montgomery, AL

Open Road pricing will generally be in the 25-28% off of MSRP range.

You can get pricing sheets directly from Tiffin (give them a call).

Kings Campers in Wisconsin will also match price of those dealers close to Tiffin.

Arizona vs Wash

Just thought I'd pass along the fact that I bought a 2016 37PA in Ariz and it was 32% lower than what I would have paid in Wash. Meza RV was willing to work in the pricing for a good deal.

Not always true, as a lot depends on the current market, what is available, and what they originally paid for the MH to begin with. I agree there are a lot out there that ask too much for their used MH's and not quite sure why, usually because they are upside down and hoping someone didn't do their research. When we bought ours new, we paid $3000 less than two 1 year old, same model, same amenities, both around 6000 miles on them that we looked at, at different dealers. Neither dealer would negotiate the price, even though they knew we were getting a brand new one for less. They basically agreed they were overpriced, but the Snowbirds would soon be in town and they would buy them at that price. Both sold within the following month, one I know for sure they got the asking price as we know the dealer personally. The bottom line is do your research based on what is available, and what a reasonable price would be based on condition. Some are really worth more than others.

Sir Isaac
Was that 32% off MSRP or 32% lower than a quoted price in Wash?

Dealer profit margine?

Good day Everyone! I am curious if anyone has a "guesstimate" on dealer profit margin? This knowledge might help give a reasonable price point meeting place for dealer AND purchaser.
