Best Tire Inflator?
I have a portable air compressor in my garage, and a reel that taps into my onboard tanks in my 2010 Allegro Bus, but these methods of keeping my tires topped off are cumbersome and seem to take forever to budge the tire pressure up to 110psi.
1) Has anybody found a compressor unit that inflates our big RV tires more quickly than your basic 150psi compressor?
2) Is it purely a function of having a higher pressure source. Delta P?
3) Is it dangerous to have a much higher pressure source? Too much Delta P?
4) Am I being too impatient? Does it take everybody a longtime to inflate?
Thanks for your input in advance. I'm going to go try to research these questions online now, but I always like to start here, because I enjoy interacting with other RVers who like to help...

Yeah, it takes a while. A bit of a PITA. You could try to go to a higher delta p but the danger factor goes higher if you do. Are you using a locking air chuck that locks to the valve stem so you don't have to squat there holding it on for the entire time you're filling? That helps me quite a bit.

Your engine compressor will do a pretty good job but you need to understand that it requires a bit of work to get it to cycle on. The other way to go is a good pancake type compressor used by contractors. They are rated 150 psi and can recover to that psi fairly quick.

I fabbed an air chuck with pressure gauge and bleed valve to control coach air compressor. Can see when compressor is increasing psi, after pop off. Makes inflating tires a breeze. There are details on making one here and on the "other" Tiffin site. I'd post the link, but still some here that loss their mind over that

This 150psi compressor from Porter Cable has very quick recovery and I can bump my PSI five pounds up to 110 in just a minute. I recently added a digital gauge with a locking valve stem connection that makes it much more convenient. The other nice thing is this compressor only weighs about 20lbs.

Thanks to all for your great suggestions! After doing some research, got a lot of hits on the Viair 400P-RV. Decided to go that way. Not sure at this moment whether it has a locking chuck, but I like the sound of that...

patnchris- I got the viair 400rv a few weeks ago and finally had a reason to use it yesterday. aired up my wife's car. the auto shut off feature worked good. I think not shutting off a previous quick air system I had killed it, it was very old and probably couldn't handle the long use. Dave

I think the Viair 400p-rv has a 33% duty cycle. The Viair 450P-RV has a 100% duty cycle. The 400P has about a 2.1 CFM and the 450P-RV has a 1.8 CFM. That is the trade off. Faster volume, but less duty cycle vs Slower volume, more duty cycle. I believe the 400P should work just fine. It's not like you are going to airing up all tire from 0-100 psi. Just my humble opinion.
