I have a portable air compressor in my garage, and a reel that taps into my onboard tanks in my 2010 Allegro Bus, but these methods of keeping my tires topped off are cumbersome and seem to take forever to budge the tire pressure up to 110psi.
1) Has anybody found a compressor unit that inflates our big RV tires more quickly than your basic 150psi compressor?
2) Is it purely a function of having a higher pressure source. Delta P?
3) Is it dangerous to have a much higher pressure source? Too much Delta P?
4) Am I being too impatient? Does it take everybody a longtime to inflate?
Thanks for your input in advance. I'm going to go try to research these questions online now, but I always like to start here, because I enjoy interacting with other RVers who like to help...

At home I have an 80 gallon 175psi stand up compressor that works wonders on filling the tires. On the road, I carry one of these: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-12-V...tor/1000092575
It works great on bicycles, cars and, motor homes. You just set the air pressure and walk away. It will pump up to 120psi. Granted, it takes a few minutes but I just set the dial and walk away. When it's reached the psi you set, it turns off. It works on 120 v A/C or 12 v D/C I always use it on the AC mode but tested it on the 12 volt mode it works great. The hose has a clamp on fitting so you don't have to hold the hose to the valve stem. Like I said, I walk away and do something else while it's working

I have craftsman stand up compressor and have tried the craftsman 150 portable compressor, wasn't happy with either one. I read on the board about the Viair compressors, I purchased the Viair 400P-RV it has worked well for topping off the tires.

at home, i'm using husky 30 gal which i can just fill it - unplug and wheel is around takes about 5 mins to check all 8 tires

Very happy with both - as of delta in air pressure - 1 is 175 and the other is 150 - i'm not sure there is much available higher "have not looked" - it the holding task or the volume the pump can move - the bigger the tank or more volume the pump can move - the faster the fillup

Also - not sure what RV you have, but 110 PSI in the tires is high - on the 36 LA - think I was running 95 in the FT and 85 to 90 in the rear - have you had the RV weight checked?

When using the Viair 400 P RV which has to be hooked up to 12 V battery and airing tires on a diesel pusher do you hook it up to the RV batteries which would be very inconvenient or to another vehicle’s 12 V battery? I assume there is no way to hook it up to 110 V ?

I hook up to the RV Battery, when I checked with Viair they said that you could check the batteries while hooked to shore power, if not start the RV to make sure you have enough power and not run the batteries down. I check ours prior to leaving home and leaving the campground while still hooked to shore power.

I have a Craftsman 150 portable and have found this method to really speed up the inflation process:
1. Run the compressor to get it to nearly the max output pressure. Turn it off before it shuts off automatically.
2. Hook your air chuck up to the tire stem.
3. Turn the compressor on while at the same time begin topping off the tire.
4. Repeat on remaining tires.
This really speeds up the process for me. If you let the compressor auto shut off before filling the tires, it crawls. Hope this helps!

Hi All - purchased the Viair 400P RV, and used it today for the first time.
Awesome product! I hooked it up to my Bus chassis batteries, and it had plenty of curly cord to reach every tire on the Bus. It came with a very convenient lead that screws on to the valve stems for a stress-free, press-free fill. I had all 6 tires topped off in about 10 minutes. Love it! Muldoon

Get rid of the 1/4" hose and use a 3/8" hose....they make clip-on ends available at Harbor Freight

I don’t see what kind of coach you have so I’m asking you? you said you hooked it up to the chassis battery, did you hook it up to 12 V or 24 volt?
