Elf111, what type of bacteria based cleaner do you use? I have a grey water tank that reads 1/3 full after having been drained. I'm sure it's soap residue on the inside of the tank but can't seem to get it clean enough to get a totally empty reading. I wish the grey water tank had an internal sprayer like my black water tank does. Thanks!

I use zep drain care from lowes or Home Depot less than ten dollars lasts for about a year. Don't expect miracles it took time for it to build up so it will take time to clean it up. Setting full of water in warm weather with this in it will work fastest.

We used this product "Extreme Clean" back when we had a travel trailer. It's from Happy Camper - Odorless Holding Tank Treatment Black and Grey Water
Worked as advertised and never had another problem. We still use their regular tank additive and it seems to do the job very well.

I don't know what kind of gauges you have but some can be recalibrated on the circuit board there are adjustments for the level reading. If you google your leveling system It may tell you how to adjust your system.

Paper

Back in the "old" days we never put paper in our septic system. You can get a small trash can with a lid that opens and closes with your foot, put a small plastic bag in that and place the used paper in that to dispose of it.
In boats we have a placard that states nothing goes in the toilet that did not go in your mouth first.

It sounds like a couple of things are going on - 1) you need to using a lot more water to flush; and 2) you might need to do some drain and black tank cleaning to get rid of all of the clogs and probably a giant mound of poo. If the toilet seal is leaking, then that needs to be replaced as well.

Happy Camper makes some great products that you can use on a regular basis to treat your black tank but they also make an Extreme Clean product to help clean really dirty tanks. If you don't have a local source, Amazon the products are available on Amazon. Happy New Year and happy cleaning!
+1 on the Happy Camper Extreme

Try RV Digest It - Unique Natural Products | RV Digest-It Holding Tank Treatment | Safe Products That Work

It's great stuff, cheap, and one bottle should do it.

Ditto on Unique Digest It. Used it for 5 years....Pour a quart bottle into the black tank and let it sit overnight or a day or two with about 15-20 gallons of water. It will eliminate all the waste and should help clean the sensors as well. Use it regularly (about 6 capfuls) and it will keep the material liquified.

http://uniquemm.com

Best place I've found to get it at the best price is RV's For Less (www.rvsforless.net) in Knoxville.

You may also want to put about 1/2 bottle of PineSol into the Grey tank and fill with about 15 gallons of water. Drive around to agitate it and/or let is sit for 24 hours. Should help break up the crud and scale.

Don't put the PineSol and Unique Digest It into the tank at the same time. The PineSol will kill the bacteria.
