Breeze

UTD reaction as to fuel mileage, handling, hill pulling power, & problem areas. Looked at them 2 yes ago and got mixed reviews. Looked @ 28' then, but now the 32' would better fit needs. Anyone looked at Thor products or others in class?

lundy,

Have had our 32' 2011 Breeze for two years now, during which time we put roughly 20,000 miles and 250 nights on her. We have taken three two month trips, a couple of two week trips, and a bunch of long weekends with our local Allegro Club chapter. So we've gotten to know her well.

Breeze impressions:
Really love our coach – right sized for two adults who want to take extended trips with a reasonable amount of stuff.
Like small size inside and out, and love air-only leveling.
Though we have had more than our share of quality issues, Tiffin has stepped up and fixed every one.
Vexing slide noises were finally resolved by our conscientious tech working with the local Tiffin field rep.
Breeze drives wonderfully after installation of steering stabilizer.
Actual fuel consumption is 9 – 10 MPG towing a Honda Fit.
Adequate hill climbing power - keep up with other coaches and only get passed by empty truckers.

All things considered, we’d buy a Breeze again if given a do-over.
2014's should be even better with new slides, more HP, exhaust brake, and independent front suspension.
Let me know if you have other questions.

Cheers, rick p

Breeze

Thanks Rick,

When I ended my semi-fulltime, I downsized to a gas rig. Been a little disappointed in the handling, fuel consumption and noise. Tried the Breeze (when it was 28 feet only). Not quite enough storage and the one I tried had so many issues, that I was afraid that it might spend as much time in the shop as on the road. I did not try the 32' but appears to have solved the storage issues. Going from the Cummins 400 to most anything else was also an issue. But now that I have a gaser, I have been weaned on that point. You mentioned some changes for 2014. Does yours have the Powerglide chassis? What are they doing to the slides? I was suspect on their system.
You also said that you liked the air leveling. I once had an Alpine (2000) that came with air leveling. I finally put jacks on because, unless there was only about 3 or 4 inch adjustment the excess slope light came on and my wife complained about the bouncy feel when moving about. Are they changing engine size or just 'tweaking' the existing one. How much difference?

Same Powerglide chassis since inception.
Same engine tweaked for more power - don't have the numbers handy.
Slides mechanisms have gone from electric to hydraulic, and the exterior slide walls are constructed differently.
Leveling wise, you might end up adding jacks to a Breeze as it does move a bit when you walk around.
Not objectionable to us and I like not having jacks - one less thing to go wrong.

Take care, rick p

Rick P,
Just joined the Forum. I exported my Breeze 32BR to Australia and had it converted to right hand drive. However I a a bit disappointed with the vagueness of the steering and hope you can advise me on fitting a suitable steering stabiliser. As I live in Australia it is difficult to talk to manufacturers so any help you can give (along with recommendation re brands etc) would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Oznomad

Oznomad,

We've had good success with the Safe-T-Plus.
You can read about them at The Steering Control Specialists | Safe-T-Plus Blog | Helping motorists' vehicles steer safer, less, and with peace of mind.

You Aussies are adventurous, for sure, as it can't be trivial converting a coach from left to right-hand drive!
Not sure how your mods would impact installing a stabilizer, but you can email them and ask.

Also, be sure and set your tire pressures correctly as that has a significant impact as well.

Good luck, rick p

Rick P,

Just received mySafe T Plus and fitted it up. Despite the steering mechanism being moved to the right hand side during the conversion process, the unit fitted without problem.

Coach now steers as if on rails.

Thanks for your recommendation and advice.

Regards,

Oznomad

Are you interested in the interior of the coach or the steering mechanics? If the latter then it is very difficult to get good photos unless the coach is jacked up.

Inside and what can be done without jacking up. Have a friend that is shipping his Breeze to England. Very interested on the change over. Things like the door are in great question, what do you do? A picture may answer a lot of questions.
