Buying parts from dealer vs Tiffin direct

We needed to replace the rock guard on our Tiffin Bus. We called Tiffin parts and got a price and almost ordered. I then called a local Tiffin dealer. The dealer was $100.00 cheaper....never assume.

Are you sure the dealer is selling you the Tiffin part or an aftermarket piece?
I'm betting the dealer is selling aftermarket.

Also, beware Tiffin only uses Fedex. I bought something for $23.00 and the Fedex charge was $22.00. Dave

Wow. That's interesting. When I buy parts directly from Newmar there is no additional shipping fee. And for the most part the prices on the parts aren't out of line.

To clarify my statement about Fedex - when I placed my order with parts the lady asked me how I wanted it shipped and I told her to ship it the cheapest way, because I wasn't in any hurry, so when I received my bill I called Tiffin and asked to speak to the parts mgr and I told him I was surprised that they had used Fedex and he told me that was how they normally shipped. Dave

I ordered a schematic from Tiffin. A xerox copy (6 pages) cost me 23.00 and they shipped it USPS and charged my 22 dollars and change for the shipping and handling. Won't fall for that again. Member said I should call Bob, had to ask who Bob was. Didn't call. So I guess they send stuff how ever they feel.

I ordered a control arm for IFS. If weighed about 80 lbs crated for UPS.
It cost 90.00 shipping to our residence.

These posts reinforce some previous things I've read about exorbitant shipping fees from Tiffin. Amazing. I'm not sure I'd be ordering anything directly from them unless it were the absolute last resort.

I had Tiffin send something last year that was very small. Was charged something like $12 for shipping. I did complain about the shipping cost, plus it was the wrong part. Tiffin sent the correct part, paid for return shipping on the wrong part and reimbursed me my shipping.
