I just bought a Tiffin 32CA and I went to an RV park that had cable hook up. Do you need a special box for the cable? I plugged in to the outside cable receptacle and set the tv on cable but was only able to get over the air tv. This is my first rv. Any ideas.

I'm not familiar with your coach but, you most likely have a "switch box" that changes from the using the antenna, cable, VCR, etc. They're usually located in a cabinet close to the TV.

Sometimes even if you use the switch box you need to be sure that the antenna booster is turned off.

Check in the front cabinet in front of the passanger seat, their should be a switch up there that turns off the antenna power. There should be a light on it.

You will also need to do a cable channel scan in your tv setup menu.

Do you need a special box? Depends on the cable system, The park will know, however that is ***NOT** your problem.
What is your problem.. one of 3 things.
First: it is entierly possible some idiot re-wired your RV wrong.. Happens all the time, I was in a Fleetwood the other day and she was having Cable TV issues... I pulled the switch and found... NOT CONNECTED What can I say. The Previous owner had seriously messed up the TV coax leads in that rig.
Now: Your more likely issues.
Somewhere in your RV is one of three switches.. Most common is a wall plate, this wall plate has a 12 volt outlet, an Antenna connection, a Switch (Push button or slider) and a light (LED most likely) This switch selects between OTA (Light on) and Park cable (LIGHT OFF) assuming the rig has not been re-wired (Seen Sat-tv note).
A version of this has just the switch and LED, with the 12 volt outlet and antenna connection being on a 2nd plate. (rare)
Some coaces also have a BOMB (Box of Many Buttons) these buttons are arrainged in groups. One (by itself) says POWER.. another says 3/4 then you have a group. TV-1, VCR, TV-2 VC-3 (usually) note that each group save VCR and TV-1 is optional.
In each group ther will be buttons Cable, Sat, DVD, VCR, and Tv/ANT (Save no vcr in the vcr goupr) You must press the proper button for your TV, And again, It may have been rewired for Sat.
Some owners (I do not recommend this) will re-task the park cable lead for use as a SAT-LNB lead. This means they re-wire the rig so the park cable lead goes to the Sat Receiver,, Of course when they sell they take the sat receiver out.. BUT THEY DO NOT RESTORE THE LEAD.
And chasing cables can be a bit of fun.. I have the tools to do it. but in truth it's really by guess and by gosh.
