Charging Engine Batteries

I have a 2008 Allegro Bus. When parked with shore power the battery does not get charged. Using radio etc; tends to run down the battery. Anyone know of a way to maintain their charge?

You can get a battery tender or make up a jumper to go from the positive of the engine battery to the positive of the coach batteries. Remove the jumper when you get things ready to go.

Don't know which Bus you have but ours has a Xantrex 3000 W pure sine wave inverter. The control panel above the driver has settings that allow the charger to charge the batteries or not, depending on how it's set. Get your books out and they'll tell you exactly to reset it so it'll charge. The engine batteries have a 3A trickle charger located in the rear of the electrical compartment at the driver side rear wheel. Trying to jump from the engine batteries to the house will do for a quick jump start of the generator or another short time function, but will not keep both sets of batteries up. Your coach has a momentary on switch on the driver side panel labeled AUX START that will do the same thing (connecting engine and house batteries) as long as it's held in.

A Battery Minder or a Trik L Start should do the job.

I have found these BatteryMINDer Charger/Maintainer/Desulfator — 1.3 Amp, 12 Volt, Model# 12117 | Battery Maintainers | Northern Tool + Equipment to work great!

Strange, I would think that Tiffin would include a connection to charge all the batteries from the inverter. Our Newmars have all had it. Have you checked to see if there is one and it's not working?
