Question Concerned, I think....

We signed a purchase order on a new Allegro 36 LA August 30. We were told on October 4, by the dealer, that the delivery date would be November 2 or 3. All of a sudden, the dealer has told us the MH will not be ready until around Nov. 28. We think that the dealer might have moved someone else's order up to get the earlier delivery date.
We know that three weeks is not a huge deal except we have to redo our loan, redo our travel plans ( the dealer is 1000 miles from our home), we have to change trips that we planned with the motor home, install of tow package and brake system etc.
We have also read on forums that people have received their MH 4-6 weeks after the order.
Do you think we are getting the run around?

Dorothy (256-356-8661 ext. 2202) is the person at Tiffin who is supposedly responsible for scheduling of orders in the factory. Try giving her a call to see if they can shed any light on your delivery. She will at least be able to tell you the normal lead time for an order placed back at the end of August.

I may be wrong, but 4 to 6 weeks sounds a little fast for Tiffin. 6 to 8 might be more like it. Nov. 28 sounds like something is not right.

Good luck with your new baby!!

I agree with Paz. Call the factory and get the straight story. We ordered a 43' bus at the Hershey show Sept 12 and still don't have a delivery or build date. However, this is probably more our fault than the Tiffin system. We wanted a number of major changes on the bus that are well outside the normal list of options. Continuous checks with the dealer and a call to the sales office at the factory was not getting anywhere until I threatened to call Bob Tiffin. I had a factory order number in 2 days, and calls from Bob and the design engineers at the factory within the last week. Looks like we'll get a schedule build date later this week. (We definitely want to watch this baby being born) and delivery some time around Thanksgiving.

To say our experience with the dealer have been less than optimal would be very generous, but once I was able to work with the factory, I'm much happier. In reality, a few call backs from the dealership, even if they just said, the modified design is still being done, would have done a lot to keep my blood pressure where it belongs. ANYTHING outside the norm and most dealers don't seem to have a clue as to what's going on or how to track things.

Get your Tiffin order number from the dealer before you call the factory. That number will get you all the info they have.

I think 8-10 is the norm for Tiffin.
I ordered Dec. 9, 2012 and it showed up at the dealers lot Feb.10 2012.
The dealer should be able to send you a build schedule so you can see where it's at on the days it's being built.
This was mine...As you can see it arrived earlier than the build schedule dictated.

It could be that the original date provided by the dealer was less than truthful to get the order.

It's more than "could be". Tiffin has never been that fast. 8-10 has been the stated norm for the last 10 years. The dealer was, shall we say, "confused".

"Confused"? Being from Texas, we tend to call a shovel a shovel. Sounds more like he outright lied and he knew it.

I agree. I'm trying to be politically correct.

Thanks for the input! I called the Tiffin factory, got the order number and other details. They received the order from the dealer September 4 and our delivery date is December 3. Twelve weeks is what the wait will be.
We called around to some dealers that have the Allegro 36LA but no one will match the price we are paying. We have decided to wait and feel a little better knowing we got a good deal.
Tha is again for your feedback.

Good luck with it. we're still waiting for them to finish the engineering drawings on our Bus changes. Perhaps we'll have a date by next week. Sounds like they had a big run of orders from the Hershey show and elsewhere. They were making 12 a day in August when we were at the plant.

Looking at buying the 36LA off the floor in Los Angeles. Any comments on the 36LA?

We picked our new 36LA December 3. We don't have a lot of miles on it yet but we have been living in it 100% of the time since pick up. All I can say is that we absolutely love it. We have experienced torrential rain - no leaks, cold weather and hot weather-remained very comfortable. No major problems, just a window that is hard to open, a window that needed a little more gasket and one flooring tile that needed more glue under it. It rolls down the road beautifully and we expected it to be harder and louder to drive but it is a dream.
We feel that Tiffin put quality and thought into the 36LA. We are very happy campers. It was well worth the wait!

Selah, congrats on the new coach. I'm glad you seem to think it was worth the wait.
