When traveling in our '06 Allegro 32 BA Open Road, my copilot uses a laptop computer to track our route and check weather/traffic conditions as we go down the road. The only place to put the laptop is on the dash in the coach which is somewhat awkward since you have to lean far forward in the seat. Does anyone know of a manufactured desk or top that is portable, can be mounted to the front dash (temporarily) or supported off the floor, which can be set up at the seat to set the computer on and then can be stored away when in camp? Almost like a TV tray!

Go online and check fleetwood brochures. They have a desk unit that goes on top of the dash and pulls out to form a desktop. We have a 98 Pace (with this feature) and love it.

The copilot's seat in my coach has a square tube that runs "left - right" under the seat. The end of the tube is open......like a receiver trailer hitch on a car. I went to an aluminum shop and had them fabricate a "desk" that slides into the seat's square tube when in use. They welded a vertical round pipe to the square tube to get the desired height. The "desk" top has a short round tube on it that simply slides into the vertical round tube so that the "desk" top will swivel. Typically my copilot is looking at the computer en route however if I need to see something then it will easily swivel for my view.
If I had a picture all these words could have been eliminated.

Look up Jotto Desk. I had one in a Coachman Leprechaun and was very pleased with it. A LARGE number of law enforcement cars use them. That's where I first saw them.

Pigman 1, We use them in our huge fleet of vans and trucks. Personally, all the screws, knobs, etc. that have to be adjusted are a pain, and the thing always rattles and squeeks. The idea is good but the device needs refinement in my opinion.

Tiffin has added that feature to the 2012 lineup. It is built into the dash. Might be easier to order from them and build it into your coach.

We use a TV tray. Fits nicely between the dash and seat. Allows enough leg room. Bought a good table that has some weight so it does not shift around. Works great and a cheap fix.

UCBearcat,

Do your wife and yourself a favor and get an Ipad. There are free apps for traveling in an RV and it will be a lot faster than using a laptop and you won't need a desk.

Check out and join the Tiffin RV Network if you haven't already.

Take a look at what's available at Mount Guys Garmin GPS, XM, Sirius, Magellan GPS, Lowrance GPS, TomTom GPS, MIO GPS & RAM GPS Mount Authorized Dealer at MountGuys.com . They might have something to fit the bill.
