Well, I've purchased two coaches from my local dealer, but NOT this new (to me) Tiffin Bus. They are a very busy dealer - also a Tiffin dealer. Guess I'll see if I retain any degree of "importance" with them when I get back to my home state of Pennsylvania.

Dealers do not like doing warranty work (especially on ones they did not sell) because they get paid less by the coach companies for warranty work than they would for the same repair on non warranty work.

We even had one dealer last year say he would do warranty work for us but would charge us extra above what he was paid by the manufacturer for the repair.

I should add that this was not a Tiffin coach or a Tiffin dealer

I would go for saving the $5000 which also means using a dealer that has a good reputation for price and service. Using some or all of the savings you could plan it out to be a nice vacation.
As for the tactics of the salesperson about warranty work I would talk to the gm of the dealer to see how he feels about the lack of professionalism from his employees. If he didn’t take some steps to satisfy me I would also contact Tiffin so they will be aware of the nonsense one of their dealers is engaged in.
Then I would use this forum including the names of the dealer and employees to alert the readers. If this was done as a matter of routine we might see fewer dealers treating the customers so poorly.

I would hazard a guess that the dealer may feel that they have a better chance to sell another coach to someone who has already purchased a coach from them and who gets prompt service from the dealer they bought from. Now if their valued customer had their coach sitting in the yard while other coaches were brought in before them they may be less excited about buying from a dealer who takes a long time to do work.

percent off and 22k vs 24k

i think i posted this situations elsewhere.
lazy days in fl. salesman somehow forgot, couldn't find, or just didn't want to send a window sticker of coach i was very interested in...
it turned out that lazy days had made up their own window sticker including a
1050 item that was not a tiffin entry....

so 30% off that coach with the made up factory option is not the same thing as 30% off the same coach with no 1000$ item hidden in the option list.
---
a dealer that i had visited several times and wanted to business with had the coach that would suit us... as i studied it on the internet i was glad to see that the tiffin had a 24k chassis.... talking to the dealer by phone and email, i kept asking for the tiffin window sticker... they had a problem/delay sending it...
when it finally got here, i saw that the coach was a 22k (contrary to their internet ad!!)

so, make sure of what you are getting...!!

And it can be harder than that. When I was negotiating, I was talking with two dealers. One had a MSRP that was almost $6K higher than the other. I figured "usual nonsense of inflating the price with worthless add-ons." However, after looking carefully, I found that the 32SA we ended up with had everything the other one did, plus built on the Ford 24000 chassis, not the 22000 the other one was on, had winegard ConnecT wifi booster, A CB antenna (whoop-de-do, I was a long-term HAM operator so CB is not exactly interesting in 2018). Had both a stove and convection microwave which my wife wanted (not so interesting after having the thing, no light in stove, pilot light, pretty small, probably better off with the two extra drawers under the cooktop.

In any case, the MSRP they were quoting was real, which left me with a better taste than dealing with someone that you can't believe anything they say. Here I can at least believe something every now and then.
