Front door, basement door, other?????

If it's a front door, what are you trying to replace? Dead bolt or regular latch, or auto opener?

To get into it you need to take the square panel off that's behind the handle/lock assembly. That will get you to see the mechanism, and you can go from there. Of course if you need the latch, you have to go in from the latch side after you release the actuating rods from the interior door handle/lock.

Door handle repair

It's really not a complex task. You will have to remove the inner panel, move it around a bit to remove and then you can get into the guts of the door.
