Electric slide motor
Hello everyone, We need some help we think our Electric bedroom slide motor went out on our 08 Allegro bus. Came in making a loud clicking sound and slow now nothing you can hear the motor sounds like it's running but no movement. I have been told that Lippert has plastic gears in them? there is another brand called Landcamp
has anyone had this problem and what did you use to fix it. Thank you in Advance. Steve

Steve, Interesting that this subject came up today. My Open Road slide out motor went bad. P/N 523529 is the motor number. Anyway, I opened it up because I heard the same thing. Surprise, mine are all metal. What broke in mine was a small needle bearing that cost $4. It elongated the the area that the bearing sets in. Needless to say the gears would not meet, therefore no movement. Is your motor hydraulic or electric?

Could the actual slide out be binding? On my electric bedroom slides (former 2008 Bus and newer 2013 Bus) there's a clutch that clicks loudly when the slide hits the stops, all the way in or out. A binding slide might have that clutch clicking anywhere in the extend/retract cycle.

Here's what failed in my motor. You can see a bearing broke. And then it warped the area that it sat in. $4 part disables my slide.

Not sure if this is helpful but, I was starting to get some clicking in my electric bedroom slide. In addition to the drop down ladder, collapsible coffee table, pillows/blankets that it came with,....I also had a telescope tripod, mount, and counter weights (about 40 lbs worth) stored under the bed. I also had a few heavy items overhead. I took out the telescope/mount equipment and counterweights and the clicking went away.

I guess just check for loading issues like StaRVGazer did, or maybe pull the bed base off and see if you can disconnect the linkage. Once linkage is disconnected try the switch and see what you hear? I haven't payed much attention to mine, but another thing would be to try to move the slide with the motor out? Slide cocked a bit? I know the motor runs on just one rack, so I'd see if that looks true and firmly fastened down. You seem to be at the try this/try that stage, but I'd also see if the motor worked when physically removed from the rack but still hooked up electrically. Good luck with it, but try anything you can think of before blindly ordering a motor and gearbox. I expect those puppies are pricey.
