Just got this 07 Phaeton 36QSH. The door fits really tight. I have to press hard on the door while pulling the handle for it to open. Dealer said this is normal because there needs to be a tight seal to prevent air noise while driving. It seems to open ok from the inside which makes me believe there may be a problem. My wife can not press hard enough to open the door. This is the REAL problem. Is this normal? Any solutions? I tried adjusting the post in the door jam with no help.

Ours was very hard to open when we first got our coach but loosened up from repeated use.

Thanks. Hopefully it will get better with use. I would think the previous owners would have used it enough during the 13,200 miles, apparently not.

Ours had issues also. Our dealer had to adjust it a couple of times. Works great now. Make them adjust yours.

Our 08 Allegro door was hard to close and came open once while traveling. A rubber strip at the bottom had to be replaced. It was only 3 months old. Should have been covered under warrentee but the Ft. Worth, TX dealer still charged 37.50 to lube the lock which was not the problem and not needed.

When we first picked up our '07 Phaeton the outside door handle was hard to operate as well. Time and use have lessened the force needed to operate. Works pretty good now.

When to the dealer for the PDI and the door was very hard to get open . This is on the 2009 Phaeton 40 with 4 slides and outside on wall tv. The salesman was shock and after taking to the tech they told me lots of tiffen are very hard to get open. My mother just turn 90 and no way can she open the door. So i had to back down on the deal. there are some tiffen owners after 15,000 miles it is still hard to open from outside.
So now we are looking at the new 2009 Mandalay 40. If they can fix it right the Phaeton 40 I might go back for it.

After a 3 day shakedown trek, the door is opening better. My wife can now open it,and that makes me happy. The previous owners apparently did not open the door much in it's 13,200 miles. Our shakedown trip proved uneventful. All systems worked as it should, even the entrance door, and the Phaeton got tested for leaks by a hard and steady rain. A good shakedown run always instills confidence for future trips.

jhughd,

Our new Monaco Monarch's main entry door was sticking and hard to open. This was an item I had the dealer fix, only they said they did but didn't. Their solution was that the screen door was slighly bent or bowed. They did replace the screen door, but not the hardness of the door opening and closing. On our first trip in the new coach this past June, the door was so tight, my wife and kids could not hardly open the door. They were constantly slaaming the door to get it to close. On the way home, my wife noticed the door was not latched. She discovered this while we were traveling down the road.

I needed to find the problem and correct before I could take the coach back to the dealer. Upon inspection (reading glasses on), I saw that the latch post on the door jam was striking the latch mechanism on the door. The latch post has kind of a washer looking end. It was wearing and had a groove cut in it that matched the door latch mechanism. The solution was two-fold. First, make the latch post slightly longer by placing a washer between the base of the latch post an the door jam on the coach door frame. This took a couple attemps to get the correct spacing, the washers were all slighly different thicknesses. And secondly, the latch post needed to be adjusted slighly up. I did this by marking the latch post position with a pencil prior to removing. The washers alone didn't work. I saw where the post was also stiking the bottom of the door mechanism.

After all this, this door opens and closes with minimum effort. I would be happy to discuss via the telephone. If you would like, send me a private message and I'll give you our company's toll free number.

New problem? My front night shade went down and now will not come up?

When I hit the switch hear the contact but no results.

Will call Tiffin it he morning, but we are in Hill City SD and not many service centers

Any thoughts will be appreciated.
