Factory wood shop caught Fire

30 minutes ago the Tiffin factory wood shop caught fire but is under control now from local fire company. I'm sure this will put a holt to factory tours for awhile you should call ahead before coming. There does not look to slow repairs as a result of fire.

How shameful that a company has such a bad reputation as Norcold. Hope Tiffin fixes the damage swiftly and that everyone was safe.

I wonder if this affected any coaches currently in production, and if there is smoke, water or fire damage to those coaches. It would be a shame if someone's new coach had damage from this fire.

Two completely separate buildings and further separated by wide parking lot. No chance of damage to coaches in production.

Anyone know if this will affect any future coaches that are scheduled to go into production?

To me this is a tragedy. I pray for the families involved. The loss of jobs till this is repaired and the loss of production for the company. Red Bay is a friendly little town.

Since it was the wood shop and I suspect insured, I doubt production will be delayed more than a week, if that (they can either find a temp shop or put up a circus tent while building is restored) .

As for the Norcold comments, Totally uncalled for and offensive to me. Even if I do NOT have a norcold.. Also out of line and I would be real suprised if they had a Norcold (or Dometic) in there... A Samsung.. (Residential fridge) is a possibility but considering the high cost of operation for an Absorption fridge over a compressor unit, I seriously doubt they had one in there, Less it was one of the high effiency compressor types both norcold and Dometic sell. (These are NOT subject to the recalls since they do not use ammonia or propane)

TiffinRVNetwork is reporting it's business as usual at Tiffin. There may be some minor losses from water damage, but the cabinet shop is operational. Apparently the fire was in the dust collector and all the black smoke was from tar on the roof and made the fire look worse than it was.

They are also reporting the new wood choice for next year's models is burnt cherry.

I didn't find the comments "uncalled for" or "offensive". IT WAS A JOKE !!!!!
This company has selfishly cost myself and others thousands of dollars on repairs and/or replacements, But your offended ? Lighten up. Whats make you chastising the poster worse.... you said you don't have one.
