General Questions About Tiffin

We really like the Allegro RED 38QRA. We toured one at the Pleasanton, CA RV show and probably would have bought it if it hadn't already been sold.

So, what better place to ask questions than here?

DEF: How many miles do you get out of 13 Gallons?

Leather: Will the leather hold up to pets? We have two Golden Retrievers who OWN the couches. Our home leather furniture is holding up very well but the Halo Leather seems to be much thinner/softer. Would cloth be a better choice?

Transmission: Our current coach has an Allison 3000 (which I love). Is the 2500 a smaller version? If it's smaller it seems counter intuitive to put it in a heavier coach.

Satellite: We have DirecTV. Will Tiffin install a High Def dish in place of the SD one? Would it be better to install it myself?

Home Theater System: Is it BluRay? Or at lease HDMI capable?
HDMI: Are the other TV's wired for HDMI from the factory?

Windows: Dual pane or single? I don't think they are listed as an option, are they standard on the Allegro?

King Bed: How much room does it leave on the sides? Is it too tight a fit? Do you lose the night stands?

Refrigerator: Electric/Propane or Residential? We do several boondocking trips a year and I'm only interested in how long a residential will run before you have to charge the batteries. (I'm well aware of the Norcold 'problems' so please don't make this thread about that.) Are the two extra batteries for the refer seperate from the other 4 and could I charge them seperatly from an external generator? Does the refer have it's own inverter? (I have an S2000 that's basically gathering dust.)

Wheels: How well do the aluminum wheels hold up?

Keyless Entry: Doesn't appear on the options but I've seen several Allegros & Phaetons for sale with it? Aftermarket?

Tiffin as a company? I've heard and read lots about Tiffin here so I'm not too worried about their quality and comittment to customer service. But is the company financially healthy?

Cummins: Good engine? How easy is it to service yourself?

We're probably going to pull the trigger in a month or two.

Thanks!

HERE is a link to price list for the 2013 Allegro RED. It will give you some idea of what is standard and what is optional.

I can't answer all your questions, but I will take a stab at a few of them.

I don't believe Tiffin installs either the Trav'ler or the MotoSAT HD dish, which is what would be required for DirecTV HD. I think they have pre-wire option for the Trav'ler on the Phaeton, but I don't see it on the RED price list.

I also don't think Tiffin offers dual pane windows on the RED. They are only available on the Phaeton and up.

As you can see from the price list, 2-door and 4-door RV refrigerators are offered as well as residential. The 2 extra batteries that come with the residential fridge are part of the same battery bank and are all charged at the same time. The residential fridge does not have its own inverter.

Keyless entry is definitely not offered on the RED.

Since Tiffin is family owned and operated, it isn't publicly traded. Therefore, there is no way of knowing for sure where they stand financially; but they are fairly conservative, and I have heard no reports of any financial difficulties. The Phaeton and Allegro Bus have swapped back and forth an the #1 and #2 best-selling models in the country for the past several years.

Good morning I will try to help where possible!
DEF approx 1 gallon every 500 miles that's with a 450 ISL Cummins
We have a 90 lb. Golden 75 lb. border collie, we cover the couches. IMO fabric material and the ultra leather wear about the same, that's why we cover!
I am sure the chassis manf, most likely freightliner Pairs the tranny with torque
I would have Tiffin install your dish, this will be an upgrade
The TV's are all HDMI in today's coaches, not sure on the blue ray?
Do yourself a favor get the dual pane windows help prevent a lot of condensation issues
In our coach we have a separate 2k watt inverter it runs off its own bank, don't know about charging them with a separate generator it has never been an issue.
The size of the night stands are reduced, no problem. IMO the advantage of the residential refer was a major factor in our purchase!
The al rims not only look good but hold up excellent, when we traded our 03 Excursion they still looked new.
The keyless entry can be purchased after market, if you desire this personally I would have Tiffin build it
Tiffin is still in business, Nuff' said!
Cummins is an excellent engine, we do not change the oil as it holds 25 quarts, I do change out many filters on the coach, just depends how the chassis is laid out.
Have fun and enjoy your new coach!

We have a 2004 Phaeton and love it, but it is time for a dish and flat screen TV.
Is the entertainment unit in front, with TV, DVD and VCR was that installed a a one piece unit, or is it three piece hook-up. I need help.
Thanks in advance for any good advice.
