Generator won't start

Just drove the Phaeton home from the campground where it had been parked for several months. If I don't start the engine and let it run for a few minutes every week or so, I have to charge the battery's for a little while to get it going. Also usually use the crossover switch so the house batteries help out on a cold start. Anyway, when I got home, I decided I should run the generator for a bit. Pushed the start button and nothing. The chassis batteries were fully charged, as were the house batteries. I'm assuming that the generator starts off the chassis batteries. I haven't done any troubleshooting yet, but if anyone can confirm which batteries the genny uses I'd appreciate it.

Typically the generator starts from the house batteries. The crossover switch can tie both sets of batteries together and let you charge house batteries from chassis if motor is running. Works both ways if chassis batteries are dead and house good. Sounds like house batteries are week. Good luck.

You do realize the generator button must be held for a minute or so to warm up the glow plug to start don't you? I deny any knowledge that this has ever happened to me!

I'll try that, but it doesn't seem like I've had to hold the switch in previously to get it to crank.

Well, when I held the switch in for a bit, it cranked right up. Thanks.

Don't feel bad, you are not alone. First time I tried it, did not hold the switch long enough, was going crazy till another Tiffin owner happened by and asked if I held the button for at least 30 seconds
