Is the dickering process the same as negotiating for a motorhome on the dealer's lot? Can one expect about the same discount off the invoice if ordered? We are about the same distance beetween 2 dealers. So I want to approach both and compare deals. Thanks in advance.

Interesting question...I got a great deal ordering my park trailer from the dealer. Once I determined the floor plan and options I wanted, I found dealers all over the US who had the model in stock and got quotes over the phone prior to sitting down to seal the deal locally. I went in with a bottom line and ended up paying less!

In theory, you should be able to get a slightly better price when ordering a custom vehicle as the dealer does not have to be concerned about a unit being added to inventory. In our experience, however, reality has not always been what theory says it should be. We have purchased vehicles (autos, trucks, rvs) both ways, ordered and from inventory. In some instances the pricing for a special order was not as good as I thought it should be. Kind of really depends on the dealer's situation, how good a negotiator you are, and market conditions. Good luck with your purchase.

1. Study the internet for availability and prices. Knowledge is power.
2. Check your dealers for their support reputation. Find out how many techs they have on staff, how many are Tiffin trained and experienced. What is their reputation for "on time" performance on repairs, mods, etc. Are you reasonably close to Red Bay?
3. Make written offers, with deposit. Start at about 33% off MSRP and be prepared to walk away if you don't get your deal done. There's another one out there.
4. We bought used, owner to owner. We love the Allegro Bus. Consider ONLY a residential reefer model.

Get a build sheet and put down what you want on the model you want. Send to several different dealers and let them bid on it. It could save you a bundle.

Thanks all for your responses. We are less than a 6 hours drive to Red Bay on the west side of Atlanta. About the same distance from Dandy RV in Anniston,Al. and RVWorld in Buford,Ga. I found a base price list online with the list cost for options. Would this do for a build sheet? If not where does one get a build sheet?

Don't forget to try Davis RV in Memphis, Tenn. and Sherman RV in Mississippi, about 50 miles west of Red Bay.

If you're going for a Tiffin, let me know and I'll start mixing the Kool-aid now..lol

I found the local dealer thought he had a captive audience and would not negotiate very much. I bought from Davis Motorhomes in Memphis and got a great deal. The savings definitely made it worth the trip from Colorado to Memphis to pick up our new Allegro Bus.

Personally, I think you can get a better deal on an order and get exactly what you want. The dealer has financing and floor plan charges in the coaches on his lot.

Sounds like you have problem with your Tiffin or did I misunderstand. We have a 2010 Allegro Bay FRED with many, many problems.
