Good news for Tiffin

"It was just announced today that Winnebago purchased Newmar the deal to close in January 2020."

This will leave Tiffin as the only family owned manufacturer. I doubt it will enhance Newmar in the long run.

I've seen what generally happens when a "Respected Name" manufacturer is bought out by a "well known mid level manufacturer". I saw what happened when AMC bought Jeep, Harley Davidson, Bayliner(?) and others. And we are seeing it right now with Lippert buying out all the RV accessory manufacturers. Anyone who has Atwood levelers can testify what happens when we try to get parts or service.

I can take some comfort from knowing that my used Tiffin may still be in demand in a few years. What will happen when a used Newmar owner tries to get parts 5 years from now?

A lot of discussion is present in the Newmar forum regarding this subject. According to the article I read, Newmar will continue to be run by the Miller family and will be a separate division within Winnebago. Supposedly, quality will not diminish and Newmar will continue to operate just as they have in the past.

I don't think Entegra suffered when Jayco purchased their company, at least no one I know of has complained.

If the 344 million that Winnebago will pay is accurate then I don't blame Newmar for selling. That's a huge chunk of money.

Yeah, right. I think these Millers will soon be gone; that they didn't sell the company to run it for someone else. I think Winnebago will put their own people in after a transition period.

Newago, accent on the middle syllable, has a ring, doncha think?

All of the naysayers might want to check the previous Winnebago purchases of Grand Design and Chris Craft. They both seem to be doing better than before the purchase by Winnebago.

Jayco CREATED Entegra from the ashes of Travel Supreme, and it was Thor that bought Jayco (including Entegra).
It was 270 million in cash + some WGO shares of stock, which are most likely restricted as to when they can be sold.

If you do your research, you will find that Newmar approached Winnebago- https://rvbusiness.com/coach-builder...atural-fit-../
Bob Tiffin retired in the early 2000s and the company just about went under. He came out of retirement and saved the company. What makes you think that Tiffin won't sell to another RV company when he retires again?
Not too many early 2000 Tiffins are in great demand. Just saying......

i'm on my second tiffin and plan to get a third...
i hope this is good for tiffin...
however there's an old saying about competition being good for the soul.. or something like that..

my opinion...
it was good for newmar that tiffin was a direct competitor and that
it was good for tiffin that newmar was a direct competitor...

so, i sure do hope newmar stays like the old newmar and stays competitive for tiffin...
if so,
tiffin will push to continue to build a good coach.

Tell that to my new Home Depot staple gun as I reattach all the window valences on my 2017 375RES at every gas stop...
1/2 inch Staples. Who would've know they could withstand a 3.5 rolling earthquake for as long as 4 hours?

Bob has all but retired again, only in the office a couple of days a week maybe, and in attendance at a few Tiffin events each year. REV Group has a standing offer to buy Tiffin.

After owning two Newmar's I'm glad I ordered a Tiffin after hearing about this news today. In fact, I just got back from a trip to tour the Tiffin factory in Red Bay AL and Belmont MS. Very impressed with the operation even though they couldn't find my motor home that was some where between paint and final finish. They offered to find it today if I could come back but I told them I needed to leave and would see it soon enough when I pick it up.
