HD TV on Allegro?

We have purchased a 2011 Allegro 35 QBA that should be here in a couple of weeks. I have some questions about the way the HD Sat. TV is handled and can't get an answer that I trust.

Tiffin has their own TV distribution system. I will be using Direct TV with the Winegard Traveler Ant. I will be using the Directv HD-24 HD DVR .The 35 QBA has three TVs. From what I have been able to find out the Front and Mid TV are part of the Surround Sound system but the bedroom is not. Supposedly the Traveler will support 5 Tvs.

My question is:

Will someone in the bedroom be able to view a different channel and change channels (controlled by an RF remote) than someone in the LR using the front overhead (or Mid) TV.

I wonder if anyone in the group has any information on this issue?

Thanks

We have a 2010 Allegro RED with 3 TVs. To have different station on the bedroom TV you will also need an DirectTV receiver in the bedroom.

Our unit was prewired for this connection and it works great. We did have to pull the screen off the wall to figure out where that 2nd satellite cable was connected.

I also have this set up and you will need a seperate box for the bedroom. I usually have the bedroom tv going with the antenna picking up local stations where they. are available.

Gary,

I have a 2011 35QBQ that we got last August. I have the Winegard SD on top from the factory. I love the RV but my only complaint is I have not been able to get a signal on the dish since I got it. I have also seen that you cannot get HD through the sat dis with Directv. I know you will love the RV, but you may need to ask some detailed questions about the sat dish when you pick it up, and I also recommend taking your Directv receiver with you when you pick up the RV so they can make sure it all works. I sure wish I would have.

Thanks,

Matt

Congrats on your new rig.

We use the Winegard Slimline Travel'r 3005 dish with the same DVR you have and love it. But:

1) I think to watch a different channel in the bedroom you'll need a second receiver... We don't need to have different channels in each room so I ran an HDMI cable from the salon to the bedroom and we get away with only one receiver/DVR by using an RF remote in the B/R. I don't think there are any coax outputs on this model DVR to feed your TV distribution system.

2) Your dish will handle up to 5 TVs because it has 5 coax outputs available but your DVR will probably take up two of those to support the dual tuners.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Rick

Thanks to all for the info!

My quest now is to find out exactly which wires Tiffin sends to the BR and is there a AC receptacle for a second Rcvr or Dvr.

I am also wondering where to put a second Rcvr. With two slides in the BR that leaves only the back wall.
Anyone have any ideas on this?

We are really looking forward to this coach. We're downsizing from a 41' Dutch Star Triple slide and I thinks this coach may have as much interior space. Especially looking forward to the simpler drive line and not so many things to service and/or fix.
