HDMI Connections

Hello,
We are new to Tiffin owners. We noticed all the TV's in our Phaeton are wired together coming off the same DirecTV receiver. Is there a way to split the TV's (Living room TV's off 1 receiver and Outside and Bedroom off a second receiver)?

Thanks,

Thanks,
Congratulations on the new 40IH, you're gonna love it. We've had ours for over a year now with 11,000 miles behind us.

A simple way is to put a HDMI A/B switch in the BluRay player line and connect one side of it to the BluRay and one to the second receiver. That way you can watch the second receiver from any TV in the coach just by selecting the BluRay HDMI input and changethe A/B switch to the receiver. You just need the switch and a short HDMI cord. I have ours set up that way with two Wally receivers.

A second option is a 4x2 matrix switch. This has two inputs (one for each receiver) and 4 outputs that go to the usual 4 TVs. With a matrix switch, you can connect any of the TVs to either of the two HDMI inputs (which means you can pick which TVs connect to white sat receiver. Gives max flexibility to be sure. Not horribly expensive either.

I placed second receiver in the bedroom and connected it directly to the TV there. Then the front, mid, and outside TVs are on the receiver in the front.

That was my first cut as well. Only issue with dish network and the in-motion dish antenna is you get two feeds from the dish, but only one of them controls which sat the dish points at. The other receiver can only watch whatever channels are available on the satellite selected by the primary receiver.

My quandary was "which receiver" should be the master? The BR or the other one? No matter how I answered that, I got it wrong. With the matrix switch, you have two receivers, two remotes, one labeled master. You can use either anywhere in the coach and you can pick and choose which TV or TVs is being fed by each receiver.

Perfect opportunity to spend lots of your money. First off, get yourself a Winegard Trav'ler installed and a DirecTV Genie system with several remote clients or multiple receivers. Add at least one more splitter/encoder or repurpose the one for the Blu-Ray player and you can have independent satellite channels on your TVs.

One big advantage of the Trav'ler is that you will now get HD and any receiver you connect to the system can tune any channel. DirecTV only can do SD through a dome. Neither Dish nor DirecTV can do much with a dome and multiple receivers.

Short answer is YES. and it is very very easy as well.

Currently you have an HDMI cable from the Receiver to a "Box" (Splitter) and either 2 or 3 wires from there to TV 2 and TV 3 (outside) in addition to a wire to TV 1 (Main TV)

Remove existing wire from Receiver and move it to Recei er 2
Remove lead from BOX to TV one from BOX and plug it into Receiver 1

Now Receiver 1 feeds MAIN TV and receiver 2 feeds TV 2 and 3

It is really that easy. I'd trape over unused ports (Sockets0 for insect dust an dother stuff control but that's me. Not really necessary.

That would work on older Tiffins with all HDMI cable, but it won't work on the new Tiffins. The output from the splitters to the individual TVs is via Cat6 network cable. It has to be encoded at the source then decoded by a converter on the back of each TV.
