Wife put on a load of laundry with medium heat. I turned on hot water in the kitchen faucet. Suddenly, the washer stopped and within a minute, we no longer could get water out of the hot side of the faucets in all sinks and the shower. I've checked the breaker, fuses, water bypass valve. We're using only electric.
Any ideas?
We're in a 2010 40 QTH Phaeton.
Thanks,
Bill

I had the same problem. The hot water would initially flow at the faucets then slowed to a trickle. When I used the bypass valve the hot water flow was normal. I have a suburban water heater that had to be partially removed to replace the check valve which corrected the problem. First cut off the LP gas, removed the water heater DC fuse and cut off electric at my breaker box so the refrigerator would stay on. Cut off gas and electric switches. Cut off water supply and drained the water heater tank first opening the relief valve to reduce pressure. I couldn't access the back of the heater without sliding the water heater out but fortunately all hoses and wires were long enough that they didn't have to be disconnected. The check valve was about $10.00 and had male threads on both ends.
I have a 2010 36 qsh and same prob, called Tiffin and they told me it was a check valve and told me right where it was ,,,,,,,they were spot on i replaced it with a nipple all good
Atwood / Suburban WHs
RV MFGs do the final plumbing and they install check valves in HOT outlet (top of WH Tank) so they don't have to use/install shut off valves
Check valves used are cheap plastic assemblies ....similar to city water inlet check valves. Plastic plunger/spring/o-ring
I really appreciate your input. It seems it is a check valve problem. I managed to solve it that night by turning the bypass valve on and off 3 -4 times. Then it finally started to flow again. Perhaps cutting the pressure off.
This now leads me to a second question. I accessed the hot water tank thru the closet. It wasn't obvious to see a check valve, but then I wasn't looking for it. Now I think I need to replace it. We have a suburban hot water tank.
