When we first came to the US from the UK, I was afraid to drive over 45 mph at night for fear the wind would blow the headlights out. In 1968, we'd had quartz-halogen headlights with 100W high beams and 75W low beams for some years. The 48/36 watt sealed beam headlights in US cars seemed pathetic.
Over 40 years later, I finally discovered "REALLY pathetic" on our 02 Georgetown. They're on all the time (DRL's), but at night you can't tell they're on unless the high beam light is lit on the instrument panel. I've solved the problem by always stopping for the night by about 16:00 and not using the MH in winter!
At some future date, when I've fixed some of the more pressing issues on the rig, I might go look at the headlights. The plastic lenses are cloudy, which is a significant issue and I'll go looking at wattage levels.
