HWH jack system

I have a broken jack on my 2014 phaeton. Bottom stud that holds the base on the bottom of the cylinder shaped off. Slipped off blocks. Now as you can imagine does not retract and need a fix. Anyone have this happen to them. Is there a recall on this part.

Have never heard of it and I doubt there's a recall.

As mentioned, never heard of that. Can you post a picture? Having a hard time figuring out why it won't retract unless the piston is bent or springs are jammed on something.

Reason for not retrieving is simple. The base that the springs are connected to is not connected to the end of the cylinder...because the bolt broke that holds the base plate to the cylinder.

Can you try placing a shovel or something similar under the shaft and try prying up on it while system is in the store mode? I hope this helps.

Yes it happened to me last June. Fortunately I'm only 3 hours from the HWH factory in Iowa. I made an appointment and had the jack tube and foot assembly replaced after the mechanics straighten the tube casing. I don't recall striking anything to warp the steel casing, but their repairs fixed the problem.

Do you remember cost. Do you think you could have done the work with new parts. From central ny. More then an overnighter.

Can you remove the broken bolt from the cylinder and reinstall with a new bolt?

I don't know how or why the jack foot bolt sheered off on my 2013, but HWH chose to replace the hydraulic tube. Prior to repair, the jack did extend, but did not retract due to the lack of return springs. HWH needed to straighten the warped chassis tube case that holds the tube. Obviously some kind of impact damage to the jack caused the bolt to eventually sheer off. The repair required working under the raised coach (rack), large tools to straighten the warped chassis case and muscle power. A new tube and foot were installed for a sum of $610.00.
