I have never used the ice maker yet, new motorhome Tiffin . Turn valve on and lowered arm on ice maker itself, still not working or water going into ice maker. do I need to do anything else?????

Add around 4-5oz water to the tray. Sometimes it needs a little help to get in a cycle.

There normally is a shut-off valve somewhere for the ice maker water line. On my Winnebago there is a small t-valve under the galley sink where the filtered water comes from. Also, on all I know of you must have 120v power to run the ice maker ...can't be on lp if you have an RV absorption type refer.

Do you have a residential refrigerator? If so, open the access door to the back of the fridge. There will be 2 electric plugs, one on inverter and one not. Reverse the two plugs and that might just be your answer. The ice maker requires 110v to work so needs to be on the non-inverter plug. There have been several people I know where the plugs were reversed.

If you don't have a residential fridge, go outside and open the air inlet vent behind the fridge. You will find the valve to open for the water to get to the ice maker. That valve may be under pipe insulating foam.

Our residential Maytag ice maker has an On-Off switch inside the ice maker that you have to turn on. The switch can be found inside the ice maker once you pull the ice tray out.

Why does it have to be on the non inverter plug to work. Unless you turn your inverter off it still provides 110 volt ?

I stand corrected. The ice maker is on the inverter outlet while the fridge is on the other for generator or ac power. Sorry I got it backwards!

Melmoses I was not trying to correct you I am just curious about your post. Here is what I understand from my allegro bus. The inverter supplies AC from one of there methods. Batteries through inverter function,
110 vac from Shore power, 110vac from diesel generator. Most of the AC receptacles from my bus are powered through the inverter. When shore power or Generator power available the inverter has a relay that allows it to supply ac power from one of these sources. I have two receptacles behind my refrigerator one of these is from the inverter the other is wired directly to the ckt brkr panel. I have a residential refrigerator that was added on later in my coaches life. I run it from the inverter supplied receptacle. I have never had any problems with it and this allows my refrigerator to be powered while I am driving down the road without having to start the generator.

If there is a specific reason on which one to use for your refrigerator I am curious to learn it.

I didn't take it that way either. I gained this information from several posts on the icemaker issue on the Tiffin RV Network. In fact there is a fairly current (within the last few days) post again about the icemaker and the two plugs. I went back over there after seeing your post and checked, then corrected myself. There is a reason given regarding harvesting of the ice (heater in the icemaker). Maybe you could go over to the TRVN network and read it so that it is clear. Crusingator explains it a lot clearer than I can since he is more technically savvy.
