Insulation in front cap

Insulation in front cap
Behind the front cabinets there was virtually no insulation, this is typical of many motor homes including Tiffin.
Many discussions about this on the forums concerning the heat on the electronics and road noise.
I have been wanting to add something back there and the space goes up into the overhead quite a ways.
I found on one of the forum discussions something I had never heard of.
It is denim insulation, made from recycled denim, did not want to use fiberglass for obvious reasons.
It is available at Home Depot or Lowes but must be ordered, got the 6 roll package from Home Depot.
Some research finds that many musicians use it due to it's very good sound insulation value.
Hoping to cancel some of the road and wind noise as well as reduce the heat if facing the afternoon sun, parked facing west.
Took the RV for a test drive, what an amazing difference in the wind and road noise.

The reason fiberglass or rock wool is used for insulation is that it won't decompose, doesn't support insect life and won't absorb water. Denim is cotton, I believe, and will decompose, encourage insect infestation, and hold moisture. I wonder what your denim insulation will be like in a year or two??

From the research that I found on line it is a very popular item with musicians due to its excellent sound value and is treated to prevent moisture and mold. If I get moisture in the front cap then I have a problem.

The heated, moist interior of the RV and the colder surface of the exterior cap will be a perfect place for condensation to collect and be absorbed by the cotton fibers. A musician is using the denim for sound insulation in an interior room, not an RV.

I noticed the same thing as you-heat buildup between the front cap and the back of the cabinets. I took the back of my cabinet apart and insulated it with Reflectix and aluminum duct tape. It works great to reflect the heat back toward the cap, but now I have to find a way to ventilate that heat out of there to the outside air. I'm looking at solar powered heat ventilators that are used on yachts. Any other ideas?
