M/H wont start

I have a 2011 Tiffin Phaeton 40 ft. I cant seem to start engine. I bought new battery charger and trickle charged at 2 amps over night with no success. Do you think the batteries need to be replaced and if so what size and rating. Thanks

Have you tried using the Auxiliary Start (AUX START) switch/button located on the switch panel to the left of your driver's seat? This switch uses your 6 house batteries to help the 2 engine batteries start the coach. Assuming your house batteries are charged, its basically a way to "jump start" a coach with dead or low engine batteries. This doesn't fix the engine batteries, but they will charge while the coach is running, if they are capable of being charged. In other words, it will allow you to get your coach started and get going.

2 amp for maybe 12 hours isn't much of a charge for 2 large, dead batteries. They probably have 200 AH of capacity and you put 24 AHs in.

Try the boost switch, as mentioned, or wait a week with the tiny charger.

I agree. A 2A charger is going to take a long time on the two start batteries. If you are going to use the AUX START switch, push it in and hold it for about 1 minute before hitting the engine starter. This will allow the engine start batteries to get to the point where they are not drawing all the power from your house bank, thereby letting the house bank to send some current to the starter.

That 2 amp charger may not even be keeping up with parasitic draws unless you pull the ground cable off the battery.
