Macerator toilet red light

Own a 2012 Tiffin Phaeton 40 QBH - the back toilet has the red light on to warn that the black tank if full. The black tank is not full. Need help locating the control modem box. Have taken off passenger side panel at the black and gray tank controls per the suggestion of a preoccupied service person at Tiffin - do not see a box. Rather than call back asking for any help to locate box to check connections or replace the box.

Cannot help with your specific motorhome, however my Tecma macerator toilet blank tank sensors are shown on the attached picture - the upper sensor (red) is the full sensor. I have since pried it off the outside of the tank (sticky tape) and "suspended" it in air with a couple of zap straps. It showed red when the tank was empty.

As well some members have had success using a "Happy Camper" product to clean the insides of the black tank.

The red sensor cannot be simply unplugged; the toilet control box requires a signal to operate. My Tecma Silence Plus macerator toilet has the control box in the cavity behind the toilet bowl. The toilet has to be pulled out from its mounting position.

Hope this helps,
Brian

I have a 2014 Allegro 38QRA with the macerator toilet in the rear bath. If yours is like mine, the control board is on the inside of the cabinet directly behind the external flush button/actuator. I had a similar problem and was told the upper level sensor is for about 3/4 full. Also was told to cut the wire going to the sensor (yellow wire on mine). That cured the problem and I just keep an eye on the tank level and dump soon after the 2/3 light comes on.

A friend with a Fleetwood and same system had the same issues. I gave him a small jar of HC to try. A couple weeks later, problem solved.
Suggest using the Extrem as directed and then the regular going forward. I've used HC for years and find it is the best and most cost effective of any of the typical products on the market.

Do you have a step up into the rear bath in your rig? We do in my Bus and by removing the louvered vent from the rear bedroom to under the bath floor, you should find the light controller, about the size of a deck of playing cards. I believe mine has a yellow wire that I installed an on-off switch on. Of course it's my responsibility when I switch the system off to monitor how much is in the black tank but with the switch off, I'm bypassing the system that prevents the toilet from flushing when the black tank is REALLY full.

I did the same as Pigman1. Our 2014 Allegro 36LA would turn the red light on even with 1/3 of a tank. If I back flushed the black tank the light would go off. Sometimes until the black tank was 3/4 full, other times comes on after a couple of days. Checked the owners manual for wiring schematic. Yellow wire was the upper sensor wire for the toilet from the module. Cut the yellow wire, installed toggle switch inside cabinet under module, now when red light comes on when we know the black tank is nowhere being full, we flip the switch, the red light goes off, and the toilet flushes normally again. Hope this helps.

Before you start cutting wires, etc. Make sure your black tank is clean. You may have some crud stuck on the full sensor. That happened to me with the grey water tank. Filled tank about half full with clean water drove RV for a couple hundred miles and the sensor problem cleared up. I have a 2014 36LA with the same type toilet. That is when I decided to buy a RV water softener. Now my tanks stay clean of crud.

So to be clear the new toggle switch is located behind panel in the step that goes to the bathroom??

That's what I did. I positioned the switch so I could reach through the louvers in the panel and turn it on and off.

I had a similar problem 1/2 way into a 1K trip home from purchasing my coach last fall. After some quick internet research, I clipped the yellow wire so I could use the toilet and put a toggle switch in once I got home. I haven't had it happen again yet.
