motor home electronics

I currently have a coach 12V issue with my 1997 Allegro Bay 33' Ft motor home. I noticed the stairs didn't extend when I opened the entry door. Further examination, I noticed none of the lights would come on inside or outside, the monitor pnl would not light up, thermostat for the air/heat would not come on. The clock on the microwave was blinking the gen starts and ground power transfers. I checked fuse/breaker pnl under fridg and fuse box in eng area as well as under the dash. all fuses are good. I pulled the pnl that controls the stairs, inside and outside lights and 12V on/off. The basement lights would not come on either. I noticed the recpt had power above the sink. The 12V disconnect solnoid clicks when I place the entry sw on or off. As I was attempting to troubleshoot the power came back to everything except the stairs, fans over the dash and some of the inside lamps. How could I power to some things and not others when all fuses appear good? am I missing a fuse pnl?

There could be another fuse panel. Are the fuses you checked marked in any way, as to what they are for? You could also have an issue with the panel its self. Do the fuses appear to be attached to a printed circuit board ? Have you tested all the fuses with a volt meter or a test light ? Apperances can be deceiving!
I've had my coach for 9 months now and so far I've found fuses in 5 locations.
Other posters may be better able to help you find an owners manual for your coach, that would discribe all fuse locations. At 33 foot I'm assuming Workhorse Chassis. Good luck.

If that is a workhorse panel then you likely have 4 fuse boxes.. I will describe them and what is on them

1: "Car" under the parking brake pedal (left side under the dash) is the primary "Car" box, i thas fuses for the radio, turn signals, lighter socket, the kind of stuff you expect to find on the fuse panel for your car.. The steps are not on this panel. Don't know about the dash fans.

2; HOUSE: somewhere in your coach is the house panel, it may be in the "breaker box" or it may be nearby.. Where I can't say cause even two of the same make and model cn be different.. Mine is .. Very well located, But again, nothing you cite is in this box.

3: Vehicle Secondary.. This is actually the principle vehicle fuse box., Under the hood are two big black boxes, This one is not marked, but is dead center, straight back.. At the bottom of the box you will see two brass bolts (Studs) these are BATTERY connections by the way.. This box has Stop Light, 4-way flasher, Breakers for the headlights and all the rest of the "Truck" Vehicle fuses.. Don't know about the dash fans.

To the right of it, closer to the brake master cylinder, is the Intelletec Battery Control Center... pop the cover on this one.. This is is the box that has the fuses for the Steps. Several other circuits are in here too. It has both "House" and "Vehicle" circuits and is the place where the solenoids and isolators and such are. You should download the service manual for this box as .. Well, sooner or hopefully much later you will need it.. I downloaded it and it saved me a service call.. Instead of a 120 dollar visit to the dealer plus parts,,, I spent $0.00 fixing it. Parts included.

Also check for loose wiring. Had that happen to mine in June. Power seats, drivers window, mirrows, power relay for generator, dash 12v power source ( used to be cig lighters). Ended up being a loose wire comming off the dash panel fuse box in front of drivers seat.

Just an additional note, the culpruit was just general viberation. 28k worth. I had the Cruise Control checked at the same time as it was also down and the switch that actuates it had vibrated loose. At least it was labor only and no parts.
