new 2010 phaeton problems

i recently picked up our new 40 QTH from huntsville, al. and we are really very disappointed in the number of problems/poor workmanship we have encountered. problems include 1) roof leak
2) hydraulic jacks not working
3) body panels not aligned
4) air leak
5) paint problems
6) l.p. gauge not working
7) water leak in bins

i will be returning (and leaving the unit) to red bay ,al. after July 4th weekend; so i guess i'll find out about this great factory service i heard about. i sure hope all the tiffin hype turns out to be true.

HI #1bamfan and welcome to the group. Sorry to hear you are having problems with the Phaeton. And perhaps the dealer too? The dealer should have been able to handle all those things for you.

Tiffin gets excellent grades from their owners, so they should take care of you as well.

1,2,4,and 6 should have been taken care of during PDI by the dealer, no excuses. 3and 5, and really #1 should have been caught by qaulity control at the factory. Number 7 is a problem I hear about and see posted in threads very often about Tiffin products. It seems to be an ongoing trouble spot with them. Some get it cured and with some it seems to persist or re-occur often.

Sorry to hear of troubles with your new unit. Don't let it dishearten you though. I have had 2 TT, 2 5er's, and now the motorhome, with each I had initial bugs which were worked out during the first year. YES it is very frustrating after what you paid for one coupled with loss of use and the trips back and forth to the dealer. Usually once the bugs are gotten out your rig is good to go for years without problem. This seems to be true of all brands.

My Kountry Star sat on the dealer lot for 2 years so it had bugs coupled with lot rot. It has been at a repair facility for warranty items more than in my possesion or on trips the last 12 months. I still managed to put 6000 miles on it though and several great trips. The light at the end of the tunnel has been found and all issues resolved finally. I leave in two weeks on a 3 week adventure out west and can't wait.

Don't get irate, work through the warranty process calmly and diligently and accept nothing less than correct repairs to your satisfaction. Sugar gets more flys than vinegar so keep a nice but firm attitude. If you explode and shout, etc., you will not get the things you desire easily or quickly. The problems can and will be fixed and you will enjoy your rig. Don't let the small things ruin the overall experience. Some dealers are better than others when it comes to warranty repair, contact the factory for ratings and suggestions closest to you, it may serve you better and cheaper than continually making the famous trip to Red Bay that every Tiffin owner raves about.

Good Luck!
