I just bought a new to me 2003 Allegro Bay 36DP, I cannot find the hot water heater bypass, help! Also, the pump will not stop when turned on, I think it is airlocked, how do I get rid of an airlock?

The hot water by-pass is usually located in the water bay. You didn't say whether or not with the pump running are you getting water or not. I think you may have the water system in the winterized position. If you have the owners manual look to see if you have the valves in the right position. As a caution, if you don't have water in the hot water tank, DO NOT turn the electric on to it. Good luck and keep us posted.

Tony, thanks for the reply. Yes I'm getting water, when I turn a cold faucet on water is coming out and the pump gets deeper sounding and then it backs off to a little hum. I have looked in the water bay and I do not see a bypass valve. I have looked in the owners manual, maybe I have missed something in the manual. There is no winterized system valve in the water bay either. Thanks about the heads up on NOT turning on the DSL.

Welcome to the forum! It sounds like the pump is getting a little water if its coming out the faucet, but flow is restricted since it then stops. Check for a filter in the line between the water tank and the pump. Also, make sure all fixtures are off, including the outside shower. Leaving those valves open can cause hot and cold to mix. I can't help with the location of the water heater bypass, but look in areas with heated compartments.

The H/W heater , by-pass , is usually a set of 3 valves at the side or back of the heater. For use the top & bottom valves are open and the center closed. For winterize( by-pass ) the top / bottom closed and center open.
Then you remove the tank drain to get the water out of the tank.
Typical RV valve , when the handle lines up with the water line , that's open , handle 90 degrees to the line , closed.
If you are filling a H/W tank with the pump , it does take a while and expect bursts of air from the taps.

Do you have any water in your fresh water holding tank? Are you running water to your coach on the city water connection? On my coach the pump only pulls from the fresh water holding tank.I would first purged the coach with water from the city water connection to fill your hot water tank. Then put 20-30 gallons in your fresh water holding tank.Make sure you switch over to your holding tank and then use your pump.

Another thing to look for is a valve that may be open so that has to be open when you use the city water connection to fill your fresh water tank. Even though you may not have filled your fresh water tank this valve may be open which will cause your water pump to continually run; make sure it is in the closed position. Some of these MHs are a quite a learning experience for sure. Enjoy yours!

Found it, thanks to you all! And the pump finally stopped! Now that the hot water heater is full I turned on the DSL and the water barely heats up, I think the element is bad. Are they expensive? And are they hard to replace?

Not expensive, if it's a Suburban heater, you might also pick up a new anode/plug to make sure it's all good. Flush out the tank while you have the plug out.
