We took delivery of a new (2010) Tiffin Allegro 35 QBA motorhome in March 2010. We ordered the motorhome from Shorewood RV, Anoka, MN on December 11, 2009. It was a build order because we wanted the FRED option (front engine diesel on a Freightliner chassis), We paid $17,000.00 extra for the FRED option. The Freightliner chassis was built Oct. 30, 2007 and sat on a lot somewhere for over 28 months until the coach was built onto it the week of Feb. 19, 2010.
During the time the chassis sat, components deteriorated and we are now experiencing wheel seal leaks, chassis batteries excessive discharge and suspension ride issues.
Tiffin stopped offering the FRED option and our unit was one of the last FRED units produced.
This leads us to wonder if Tiffin knew of issues with this chassis or realized that there we engineering improvements that should be incorporated into the chassis design that were lacking on the FRED.
What are the guidelines for how old a chassis can be and still be used in building a new coach?

My suggestion would be to contact Mr. Bob Tiffin regarding the issues you're experiencing and perhaps they may offer to take care of the problems at their expense due to age of the chassis when they built the coach.

It's worth a try, good luck

ditto
the chassis warranty started the same time the box did....freightliners warranty should be covering the seals

our coach sat for over a year.....in a showroom, they had to replace all batteries because the sale folks let em discharge or not charge and they died died died

hope it works out

Freightliner has a three year warranty. All those things that you mentioned are Freightliner issues. They should repair or replace all the items that you are having a problem with. There is nothing wrong with the FRED chassis. Tiffin is not the only manufacturer to use it. Tiffin brought out their new RED (Rear Engine Desiel) that fit the same price bracket as the FRED and gives more of the DP advantages such as air ride and brakes. The RED became Tiffin's entry level DP and replaced the FRED in that price nitch.
