Hi Ron,

Welcome to iRV2.

What year Zephyr do you have and what size generator. Depending on the generator, you may have a constant speed AC generator or a variable speed inverting generator. Generally the 7.5 KW Onan is a variable speed unit.

It sounds unusual to have generator wires burned as typically that indicates overload but the genset should be protected by the two circuit breakers mounted on the generator. Could the wires have burned due to being loose at a connnection?

Sorry to hear you are having some problems. We have the 10kw diesel Onan and the only problem in 10,000 miles was nearly losing the exhaust pipe when the two bolt became unscrewed somewhere in the mountains of I40 in North Carolina.
