Phaeton IH rear bath in a Bus??

We are considering a Bus 40SP - we want the 1-1/2 bath but the floor in the rear bath is raised and the headroom in the shower is tight. The Phaeton IH does not have the raised rear bath - thus gaining headroom. Other than the shower height issue, we prefer the features of the Bus.

I understand that the Bus is raised for the engine room - but.
Does anyone know how the IH can have the continuous flat floor and could this be on the product roadmap for the Bus in the near future?

TIA

The 40IH and the 44OH both have the flat floor because of the taller space in the storage bays and engine compartment. That gives the engine head room without having to raise the floor. The bays are about 7" taller than the Phaetons on a Freightliner chassis. The trade off to this is both coaches are 5" taller overall than the ones with the lower floor in front and raised engine area.

As for whether this carries over into the Bus, who knows as it will require a complete redesign of bays, sidewalls, etc.

Thanks Dan.

That makes sense - the IH is 7" taller and 1" less interior head room. It is a great floorplan.

Your minimum garage height is 14' on the IH & OH , all others are 13'.

How can it be 14 ft.? Anything over 13'6" requires a permit.

The overall maximum height of the coach is 13'2" but they recommend extra space. The antennas do stick up above the 13'2" mark, but they are spring loaded to move. I know they are not 13'9" because I've been under an overpass at that height and didn't hit. The 13'6" max only applies to "hard" surfaces, not antennas.

Please show proof of this. Where did you read this? Are you 100% sure this is the case?

I've heard rumors of sightings of 40IPs in Red Bay along with 45MP. If that is true my guess is maybe they will be unveiled in Louisville next week.

From the Tiffin Phaeton brochure, the 40IH and 44OH are 83", the rest of the models are 84" ceiling height.

I believe the difference in floor height is the difference in chassis. The flat floor is on the Tiffin Powerglide chassis and the step up floor is on the freightliner chassis. Like I said I believe; I am not 100% sure if this is the reason.
