Does anyone know where the power (battery or otherwise) for the JVC/dashboard radio comes from? Is it powered by the engine or coach batteries? Does it receive AC power when the coach is plugged in to shore power? I like to use that radio when parked and am curious as to what power source I am using. I'm worried about draining the engine batteries.

Thanks.

I think it's the engine batteries. Also, I believe that when on generator or shore power, both house and engine batteries are charged.

You will not kill any battery running that unit for hours. It draws very little.

Most motorhomes have a switch on the dash, usually with a musical symbol engraved on it. That will transfer the in-dash radio from chassis battery to house battery. Dash radio units are automobile equipment and are all 12Vdc, otherwise they wouldn't work without shore power.

Frankdamp The button you are looking for should be on the left hand side of the drivers seat. "Labeled radio" You will not drain your batteries if pluged into shore power or running the genny.
